I am really impressed with the excellent customer service I received from GVEC for their fiber internet service. From day 1, I was kept up to date on their installation progress which happened very quickly. The outside contractor Russell Wright contacted me several times regarding the outside installation and their progress. He was so kind, friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and very professional. Yesterday Colt and Syngen showed up to my house to do the inside work. They were both so friendly, kind, courteous, knowledgeable and again very professional. They quickly did their job and in no time, my internet service was up and running. My sister was at my house at the time and was telling them she also had internet service with GVEC but was having trouble with it. They offered to go to her house right next door and see if they could help her. They did and quickly found a solution to her problem which ended up being an issue with her email. They said they didn’t mind trying to help her and besides that way she would avoid having to call in to schedule a separate repair visit. Russell Wright, Colt and Syngen definitely need to be highly commended for a job well done. All 3 of them went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations to provide excellent customer service. Thank you GVEC for having such wonderful guys representing your company as I am very happy and pleased to have your service!!! Read moreWe just recently moved to La Vernia about 8 miles outside of the city limits. I was shocked to learn that Gvec was the only internet provider capable of providing higher than 20Mbps and that was with Fiber. Upon inquiring, they did indeed have fiber available in our location but it would need to be run to our house. I thought dang, I am going to have to wait years for them to expand their fiber coverage to my home and I would be left with 6mbps internet for the foreseeable future. This was not the case, they said it would be a 2-4week wait for the install but it would cost us $795 for the line. I wasn't shocked by the cost, I was purely shocked that they would run the line for us and we could actually pay for it and not have to wait for future expansion like the At&t monsters of the world. That is phenomenal customer service if you ask me. On top of that, it did not take 2-4 weeks, the guys were there running the fiber 2 days later and the install day was completed 2 days after that, weeks ahead of schedule. So far the fiber speed has been great, no buffering and no bogdowns, that's having 2 4k ultra HD tvs streaming plus 2 phones and an iPad surfing and streaming. Read moreWe’ve waited 25 years for fiber. DSL never came. Cable never came. Satellite came, but was not worth the cost and latency. It was dial-up for a very long time until fixed wireless came along. That was the best we could do until T-Mobile Home Internet came along. Compared to fixed wireless it was great. Easily five times the speed of our fixed wireless.
Then came fiber. We’ve only had it for 24 hours, so I can’t give a full review to include service and reliability, but I can comment on the installation.
The company communicated regularly when it was our turn. The employees and contractors were professional and easy to deal with.
During the final stage of installation, the ground was wet and muddy, but the installer did not wear shoe covers like some plumbing companies will do to protect your home. Needing to go in and out a few times, he tracked mud on our carpet and it created quite a clean up project for me when he was done. (This is why I’m giving four stars and not five.)
