I recently visited Charter College (Lacey) to enroll in one of their programs. I walked in and was greeted by a gentlemen who was professional and friendly. For those of you who are face-2-face type people, there are no admission advisors on site here, so you will have to go into a room and remotely talk to an advisor in another state via video call. This process actually was not bad, but I was asked for my SSN during the video call, and because in the room you are speaking into a mic, I didn't feel comfortable saying it out loud, due to the lobby and receptionist area right outside the door. Maybe putting a sound machine outside the door will make your potential student(s) more comfortable.
During the meeting(s )I mentioned several times that I would be using my veteran education benefits. However, I was not informed until coming in again the following week (which could had easily been inconvenient for somebody else), that they could not accept veterans into the program that I had chosen who planned to use veteran education benefits (which actually had been the case for over 4 months for several programs there). I felt that this should had been mentioned during the admissions interview with the advisor.
Overall, I think this college would had been a decent place to attend, but if you are a veteran, make sure you ask them to check if you are actually going to be able to enroll in the selected program with your VA education benefits. Staff onsite (campus locations) should at least know pieces of information like this. Nobody likes their...
Read moreIf you are a young eager adult attempting to make or start a career, i highly recommend you look elsewhere for education or study the trade at home first. I took their HVAC program at 19 years of age and had the worst experience of my life with this program. Went through 6 different unprepared instructors who all quit on us because they could not figure out how to teach the curriculum this school provided. We literally held a meeting with the superintendent of this school wondering where all of our money has gone or even is going with this program. The only reason i even had passing grades was due to my at home studying and because i finished all the online assignments they provided. It is impossible to learn HVAC if you are not getting hands on training and if your instructors have no idea how to run the curriculum. I was left with no choice but to quit the program because of the way it was going. No consistent instructors by the first month of the program only 5 hours of hands on training if you can even call it that by the 6th month. Not to mention the loans service provider MOHELA, they will not allow me sign into any accounts to pay the rest of my 25k loan this program stole from me at a crucial age to be saving money. AGAIN, IF YOU ARE A YOUNG ADULT DEPENDING ON YOUR NEXT MOVE TO SPRING YOU FORWARD IN LIFE THE PROMISES THIS PROGRAM MAKE YOU WILL NOT FULFILLED. THIS PROGRAM ARE FOR THOSE WHO ARE HAVING THE PROGRAM PAID FOR OR FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY HAVE YEARS ( AND I MEAN YEARS) OF EXPIERENCE IN THIS TRADE. I DO...
Read moreThe institution was more concerned with getting people in to get money than they were with the quality of education the students received. The lab wasn't built for the first two months of us starting the HVAC/R program. They decided that the best way to teach the students hands-on training would be online. Why didn't they wait until the lab was finished before enrolling students? Halfway through the program, the instructor decided to quit for a module and then come back. The instructor for the HVAC program teaches us off of YouTube videos more than anything. This institution is more concerned with your monthly payments than what you actually learn and take away from these courses. I recommend that anyone who decides that the HVAC field is what they want to go into, enroll elsewhere. I don't understand how they are accredited to continue to operate the HVAC program. Please read the reviews before enrolling. I wouldn’t wish this place upon my worst enemy. There is not one student who has been through the HVAC program at the Lacey campus that has a positive experience. The MA or pharmacy program are set up, all of the positive reviews have come from those programs, it’s a completely different story for the HVAC program. If Bruce tells you that he can help you with interviews with local HVAC companies because he knows the owners, don’t believe him, it’s just a sales pitch...
