I needed to update my review for Tea Leaf II. Unfortunately I've only been able to enjoy one of my favorite places to eat in Olympia and Lacey 3 times in the past 14 months. I was able to have my favorite dishes delivered via either Uber Eats or Grub Hub. As most know the delivery services jack up the prices and add the normal fees too. I ordered my Mongolian Beef requested light on the oil and Tea Leaf chow main. I was shocked that it arrived quickly and hot! I live on the West Side and it's quite a little hike from Tea Leaf II. The food was perfect as usual. There's enough in each dish to feed 1 person for a few days. Plus, they followed my order correctly. Mongolian Beef is the best in town. Everything that my family and friends have eaten from this restaurant was delicious. I like the Chow Meins etc. I guess the place looks like a 1950's chop suey Chinese restaurant with its old bright red vinyl seats and old art style pin ups of China. Maybe we've been lucky not to have gotten a bad product after all these decades or perhaps we order what has always worked for each person. No complaints except I'm not crazy about their soup de jour when it's beef noodle something thickened with corn starch... nope not so much. LOL Very old school, uses fresh veggies, follows instructions, very fast , cooked to order, and staff is great! It's...
Read moreEdit: Tried it again 7 years later and it's worse. Crunchy noodles just tasted like used oil. Mooshu was 80% bean sprouts and literally 4 shreds of pork, vinegar instead of plum sauce or hoisin was a surprise. Crab wontons & potstickers taste like burnt Worcestershire sauce. Soggy & sad. All the sauces tastes like bad steak sauce. The best thing was the almond chicken and it was weirdly sweet. Pork Fried rice is literally flavorless dry pork chunks in white rice. Not fried or flavored at all.
First review: Flavorless. Smelled like chicken noodle day at a school cafeteria on the way home. Just salt, pepper and chicken broth. Mooshu was fresh veggies but nothing but oil on it. Lots of oil. No flavor. The general tso was mushy small pieces of chicken in a mildly spiced sauce . The chow mein was nothing but noodles, very little veggies or chicken. I was surprised because I saw a picture online with lots of veggies and chicken. Fried rice was basically rice with peas flavored with nothing but disappoint. The people were nice, the veggies were fresh but there...
Read moreI went here for the first time after my recent move to Lacey, looking for some good Chinese food. I ordered the Individual Dinner "C" ($23) that included egg flower soup, egg roll, Mongolian beef, sweet & sour chicken, and fried rice. The soup was very flavorful with lots of egg, tender-crisp bean sprouts, and a few cubes of tofu - even the tofu was tasty. The egg roll was crisp, not greasy, with a flavorful filling. The sweet & sour chicken had a not-too-sweet sauce, a lot of chicken with a light crispy coating, and tender-crisp veggies - carrots, onion and green pepper. The Mongolian beef was served on rice noodles - no broccoli - not spicy but tasty. The fried rice had strips of pork, egg, and veggies. Serving size was very generous - light eaters could take about half home for the next day's lunch. Service was friendly, and our meal came quickly, but everything looked and tasted freshly made. I think I've found what I was looking for and I...
