Older students get treated terribly. They only care about the younger students right out of high school. If you take IT don't take in person classes with Andrew Gibbs. He talks about nothing for an hour and a half each class. His tests are very unfair also. He favors his younger students. He gave the 3 older male students a different midterm exam than the female older student and the younger students in class. All 3 of us failed the midterm the rest of the class all passed because they were given an easier exam. He brags about being a programmer but, his degree has nothing to do with anything computer related. If you want to learn IT learn it on your own don't waste your time with Ivy Tech. The dean of IT is even worse. She called me at home and was yelling at me for 15 minutes because I complained about a teacher not answering my email about a final project. I'm updating my review after talking to person in charge of the new truck driver training. The program doesn't help you study for the cdl written tests at bmv. You have to pay for your physical too. You need to pass all the tests for class A and pass and pay for your physical. That gets you your class A learners permit. I was told by bmv you have to pass your physical before taking written tests now. It's a 3 week course and the goal is to take and pass the driven part of class A licence. It's in Frankfort not Lafayette. Am I the only one thinking what is the point of this course. They don't offer class b...
Read moreHad a great time there for almost two and half years. Every faculty members were very kind, caring and willing to help, especially advising and financial aid folks. Professors were kind of childish treating us like highschool student but they were SUPER professional and enthusiastic about teaching. Most of instructors i had were from purdue univ (Good luck if you get them because they are very hard. It is impossible to get an A). You can earn degree online. I saved a lot of time taking online classes ( they are designed terrible but manageable). I underestimated community college all my life. However in reality, attending here was one of my best life choices I have ever made. Too many good experiences, memories and opportunity they gave me.....I will never forget that. Lafayette campus offers lots of transfer opportunities. Don't forget higher education can give you broader choices through your life ! By the way, the campus area always smells bad....
Read moreI gave it a star because you have to put in at least one star when they dont even deserve one star. I was a student there. I have dyslexia, subtopic sensitivity syndrome, ADD, ADHD, and have symptoms of autism. I was diagnosed with subtopic sensitivity syndrome 34- 35 years ago at KCKCC (Kansas City Kansas Community College) in Leavenworth, Kansas with the subtopic sensitivity syndrome some 32 years later Ivy Tech has never even heard of it how are they supposed to help me when they've never even heard of something when I was diagnosed 32 years ago at a community college? Ivy Tech does not impress me. I love learning but I need people who know more than I do for me to get to where I want and need...
