R&R Hair Salon & Barbershop — Local services in Lafayette

I had a really unfortunate experience at R&R Barbershop and Salon in Lafayette today with ROBIN. He appeared to be UNFRIENDLY and CONDESCENDING towards other employees and me as a customer. My hairstylist, Maryam was very professional, friendly, and courteous towards me and other customers when ROBIN Told her that she has put the chairs too close together for customers and she should ask him when she wants to do something like that again. I found that ironic since ROBIN was wearing a mask that was too small for his face and his nose was out of the mask; yet he was claiming that he was worried about safety and prevention of COVID-19. First of all, maryam created enough space between chairs for us as customers to feel safe and each chair was in a way that we were facing away from each other. Second, the other customer and I were wearing masks properly, unlike him. When my hairstylist, Maryam went inside to get some supplies I asked ROBIN for his name and told him that his behavior toward Maryam was very unprofessional.ROBIN looked me in the eye and said “this is my workplace and I will do whatever needed to make sure everyone is safe.” And that what I said was just my opinion. Again, I find ROBIN’s statement hypocritical, since he had not even checked to make sure his mask is on properly, and he was talking to me in an unfriendly way. First time visiting the location and we saw Robin. It was my son's birthday, and we were treating him for a nice haircut. My son showed Robin a picture and clearly communicated what he wanted. Robin was nearly silent the entire time. He declared himself finished and when we told him it was not what we wanted and was still too long, he got extremely angry and hostile. He said he is going through a difficult time and found our remarks "Trivial" and we should "stick to Supercuts". He then took his scissors and hacked 3 inches off my son's hair, which is exactly what we told him we did not want. He threw his scissors against the wall, scoffed off, and said he would not charge us. My son (who is 15) was in tears. It was literally the worst experience I have ever had in a salon. I offered to pay and to correct the cut and he refused. I would strongly recommend no one go here- I never will. My son is so devastated and we both were shocked at how cruelly we were treated. We both felt he hacked his hair as revenge for us not being satisfied as it was so hostile the way he grabbed his hair and cut it. I get having a bad day, but why not have cancelled our...

R & R Salon and Barbershop is a gem in the East Bay. Since moving to Lafayette from New York City in 2018, I struggled and went through a few hair stylist who could style and cut Black/Mixed Race hair, but I always had to travel to Oakland, usually to meet a new stylist who was late, and took way too long to do my hair. Robin and Roya are amazing! They can cut, style and color Black texture hair (bring your kinky, curly and coils to them, they will hook you up!). They have been doing my natural 4C curls for over a year now, and my hair has never been healthier. They also color my natural hair, and it is not dry or brittle. I've had a few colors this past year, and they've all been vibrant and beautiful, while keeping the health and integrity of my afro. Thank you guys!! Oh, and bonus, I get to play with Zuka...
