Update 2: Still infested with rats and roaches. Does management even care about this business? Sure seems like they are only interested in sitting around and eating while the rest of the staff look like they are ready to either kill themselves or everyone in the building. They really seem to be pushing themselves over an edge at this establishment. I get it restaurants are a lot of work. What I've seen here is really a case of negligence. Leadership is out of touch and so the whole restaurant is suffering. The future of Pizza Antica appears grim.
Update: This restaurant has rats and cockroaches. It's infested. Witnessed a rat run into the back of the restaurant and into a hole in the wall. Have seen cockroaches and other insects too. Management just hides the problem. Health Department needs to do a thorough inspection of this place.
I wish I didn't have to look up the hours for this business to remember what time they close. I'm the type of person who hates putting an undue burden on service workers. They don't deserve to be forced to stay super late because of one tables lack of awareness. Having your hours posted on the door is just establishing boundaries. It's not rude to do so. It's a perfectly legitimate move to make as a business. Especially if you don't want to waste money on unneeded labor.
The food is great. Recommend trying your next salad with a piadina and some fried chicken. The combo makes for an awesome salad wrap. The service is great. The staff are cool.
The only reason for 3 stars is cause I got there around 7:45 and didn't find out until after we left that they actually close at 8 pm on weeknights. I would have gotten my food to go if I had known. Again, I hate being that last person in the restaurant, and since I didn't remember the hours from when I looked online, I didn't have a backup indicator to let me know. I've overstayed my welcome. It really shouldn't be outrageous to post an open/closed sign and the business hours. Honest people appreciate...
Read moreI was a regular customer here for a number of years, but only get to eat occasionally after moving out of the area. During our last visit home we decided to eat at one of our favorite places to eat back in the day.
Either my memory has issues, or the food here has taken a turn for the worse. Some of the pizzas still bore a resemblance to what we remembered, but everything just seemed a little lackluster. Not bad, just not tasty. Only having one size for the pizza really confused us as well. We used to get one large and one app for the two of us. It seemed like the one size was closer to the smaller size pizzas from back in the day.
As for service, our server was actually very nice! I remembered him from the last time we were here, and I received the great service I expected. The problem is that I didn't really receive enthusiastic service. It's almost like he was going through the motions without actually enjoying himself. It was a little off-putting. I will say though, the service was still very good, just void of any emotion or human connection.
Lastly, and the reason for the three star review, is the 4% "living wage" surcharge added to our bill. I have no issue paying 4% more for their pizza, beer, or whatever I order there, but gall of calling it out on the bill is over the top. If you can't stay in business without paying your customers a living wage, then you don't deserve to stay in business. I wonder if there has been a change in management that prompted the waiter's lack of enthusiasm in our service.
The beer selection is fine and the pizzas are okay. I ain't gonna give them 1 star when they have decent, bordering on good, food. But the management's attitude...
Read moreI would give this lovely place 5 stars if I weren't so disappointed in their portion sizes. I have gone there hungry and left hungry, so I must knock off a star. If all the rest weren't so good, I wouldn't hesitate to slay 2 or 3 stars. But to be fair I must say that they are wonderful in every single way except for the fact that the pizzas are so thin and so low calorie. They are merely a glorified appetizer. Maybe they are adequate for a waif, but I need at least a thousand calories at dinner to even sustain myself. I work hard and burn lots of calories. I would not be able to afford to properly feed myself here because I'd need to buy 2-3 of their pizzas, plus a salad to do it! But that said, if you don't particularly have a high metabolism like I do, you just may love this place. It's not cheap, but not too expensive, either. Inside, it does get very loud with all the other diners' chatter when they are full. I just don't like that I leave feeling hungry, then have to make myself something more to eat when I get home. But looking toward the bright side, probably their best asset is that their servers are top-notch. They are definitely among the best. It has always been a great time going there. Just not quite as fun as I wish it could be, if I weren't for my strong,...
