I went in to get some good old fish. After paying and placing my order I received two little packs of hot sauce and ketchup. I was dinning in at Wards. I went and took my seat and realized I needed more ketchup for my fries. I walked to the courtier and asked the young lady may I have another pack of ketchup, and informed her there wasn't a bottle on the table. I was told they no longer leave hot sauce and ketchup bottles on the tables because people steals them. I said are you serious, just tell me that yawl trying to make more money charging people who have paid there money ordered there food just to be told I had to pay for another pack of ketchup. That's sad, and really is a poor excuse (people steals the ketchup and hot sauce bottles). They have pretty good fish, but I just couldn't believe they are to dam cheap to put a bottle of hot sauce and ketchup on the table for people who sit in can put on there food. They have got to do better than that, it takes the good from the good fish they sell. It can't kill the business to put ketchup and hot sauce on the table. I have a question why are they selling packets instead of giving it to...
Read moreThis is a fish market that cooks as well. I'm a seafood fan so this review counts. You cannot find a better seafood meal under $20 a plate within 200 miles. If you're in the area, and would like some very fresh, southern fried OR GRILLED seafood, then find Ward's seafood market. I've eaten seafood at various places, and the staff here asked me how I'd like it cooked, soft, medium, hard or crispy. I've never been asked this before, anywhere. This matters. Especially if you love seafood. You can have it fried in seafood batter or corn meal. I recommend corn meal, it's the southern way. The shrimp are excellent. This is not a fancy sit down restaurant, it's a fish market. They have raw fish, shrimp, and oysters on ice in a showcase as soon as you walk in, and if you've never been to a seafood market, well, it's going to smell like fish. This is how you know it's fresh, and these guys cook it and cook it well. I eat here every time I'm in the mood for seafood, hands down. Upscale dining restaurants wish they could cook it up as good as they can, and meet their customers expectations. Best $8...
Read moreHusband and I came from Sumter to this fish market in Lake City, SC and love the food, rest of staff was nice, except this one older black lady who wears glasses. She was helping out over the raw fish, and she ask us: " Is this on the same ticket?" I replied yes, so my husband wanted crocker fish-which they did not have, so my husband ordered whitings, the older black lady picked up the fish and threw it back down on top of the other fish like somebody did something to her. She even looks mean, and she needs an attitude adjustment. 🙄 There is always somebody somewhere that lowers an establishment ratings. The food was delicious that is why I give this place a 5...
