I have not had any contact with staff other than email as I have done everything online but response time to emails is quick and whoever is answering them on the facilities behalf is polite and helpful. The most noticeable thing about this self storage that it does not have compared to others I've dealt with is it is clean. Very clean. The grounds are impeccable. No garbage. Like not a single scrap. There aren't any units with the doors standing half open with its contents half spilled into the aisle. (oh yes I've seen this in more than one facility). No folks hanging about that look a bit shady. You feel like your things are safe from those who would steal and the elements. The unit I'm renting was spotless when I went to put things in it. . It's well lit at night and you feel safe being there alone after dark. Rent a unit here if you care about the belongings you're paying to store!
**This is an update to my review over a year ago. If you want to have your rent raised constantly... Like literally almost every month this is your place. I started out renting a unit here for $140 a month. Within a year it was up to $200. The notice was 30 days and therefore made it difficult to do anything but pay the increase since I couldn't drop everything and deal with this issue. A friend of mine who also has a unit here that is the same size rented a unit a month before I rented mine informed me that it was currently at $240. I had to move my things to another facility because I couldn't afford their rates. I believed the rates were raised due to a fire they had in one of the buildings that made over 20 units unrentable for several months. It's just my opinion but I feel the other customers were made to compensate for those rental losses with the continuous increases. The woman there reported me to corporate simply because I wrote a letter of intent to vacate and informed them that the reason was due to the rate increases and how I thought it was awful to do that during the height of covid when we were supposed to be on lockdown in the spring/summer of 2020. Apparently that was taken personal. Anyways. The other stuff still holds true. Really clean and a nice facility. Just out of reach cost wise for...
Read moreI rented 2 units at the Lake Elmo US Storage facility after I was quoted a reduced price and 50% off the first month for both units. Despite a signed contract, the manager said the price was for only 1 unit and refused to honor the contract. I spent many hours on the phone with managers, supervisors, and eventually a regional manager agreed with me and they honored the contract price. Then it took more calls with the finance department to get the refunds back on my credit card. There were 2 price increases on both units (at different times) within the first year. I met a couple of the people renting neighboring units, and they indicated that they were paying much less for the same size unit. Security was terrible, as the gate was broken and open for at least 12 of the 16 months I was there. Since a security gate was one of selling points, I requested a refund, but the manager said it was not in the contract. Eventually, they put up a "temporary" chain link fence and gate that at least was closed and locked at night, but open during the day. One of the neighboring units was broken into, and the manager did not even know. I informed the manager a week after I saw it the first time! Finally, I moved out after 16 months to a new facility nearby, where I am paying 1/3 less, and the...
Read moreOne of the worst places I've ever dealt with with storing my travel trailer. Not only did it get broken into but I was also lied to and told I would get a month rent for free if I gave a 5 star review, which he never made happen. 2 weeks later they then told me my rent was going to go up 125via email if I didn't up my insurance policy. From my move in date I got the insurance they required, why do I now have to get a higher insurance policy?! So I move my trailer out, called and told them I was moving out 3 weeks before the months end(first week of March 2022) and they told me on the phone it was fine to be out by the 31st and assured me I wouldn't be charged. I was out on the 30th, I then kept getting text message and phone calls for a payment which I then told him I was no longer there and they told me on the phone they would not charge me, but did anyways for $125. Then they refunded it after I called to complain and he told me that they would take me out of the system, then the next day they charged me $149 but now instead of refunding it I'm now fighting to get my money back because they messed up and an now need paper work to vacate which they never once asked for one month after I already vacated!!...
