My fiancé and I had a very fun date there yesterday! There were many positive things about the overall experience, and a few minor little details I want to share for anyone who might be reading this but is on a tight budget. It was a little pricey for the pottery items themselves, but only if you choose larger pieces- they had many things that were more affordable- but the fact that we get to keep them forever makes it worth the cost... There are definitely times I've spent money on "experiences" where I didn't get to take things home as keepsakes after, so in my mind, it's a good thing to spend our time and money on. They had a huge selection of pieces to paint, ranging from small and low effort, to large and detailed- so there is something for every skill level and every interest level. It was our first time going here, and we picked out rather large and time-consuming pieces, so after 3 hours we still weren't done, but it was time for the store to close, so we were told we could bring them home and come back to finish them another time. (This does mean we will probably have to pay the $10 fee each AGAIN for coming to paint another day, but it's a better option than having to hurry or not finish painting at all, so...
Read moreI brought my fourteen 2nd grade Brownies to the Woodbury Color Me Mine location in order for them to earn their potter badge. I was so impressed with the way the session was run. I thought the girls would simply paint a plate, see a kiln, and earn their badge. Instead, Olive walked the girls through a brief description of ancient pottery. Olive calmly answered every single question the girls had (and there were A LOT), never once getting annoyed by the nonstop stories they all wanted to tell. I was also happy to see the girls got to work with some model magic and make their own pottery creations to take home and paint at a later date. Of course the highlight of the session was seeing each girl embrace her inner artist and create amazing painted plates. It was such a fun afternoon and definitely something I would recommend to any Girl Scout troop. The session made sure to cover all the requirements for the badge and I was grateful that my scouts were able to experience something I know nothing about. Thank you Woodbury Color Me Mine! We will be...
Read moreThis was such a fun experience! The staff were attentive and helpful in understanding the process. Most of the steps were self-explanatory. You come in and are immediately greeted. It's best to make a reservation as walk-ins can be a hit or miss depending on how busy they are. Saturday afternoons seemed to be very busy. We made a reservation weeks in advance. You get to choose the ceramic art piece of your choice which is along a wall. The pieces are a wide range of plates, mugs, whimsical items, nomes, etc. I chose a lighthouse ($40) and my husband chose a donut designed mug($28)! We arrived at 1:30pm and stayed until 4pm. No one bugged us about time as it takes time to color and re-coat. Such a fun mindful activity! We paid at the end, with the $10 each person fee for adult studio visit, the cost of the ceramic products and tip added. I would do this again...
