Orvis Lake Oswego — Local services in Lake Oswego

I'm an avid Orvis fan with countless rods, reels, clothing, etc. and have shopped at Orvis stores nationwide. The service at this store is real hit and miss. Some helpful people and some really 'not helpful' people. Went for a basic return today and was immediately hit with chilly, passive aggressive service. My polite question about the return amount was greeted with surliness that was rather upsetting. I left, called Orvis 800 customer care from the car and they immediately recognized the issue I was having. Orvis customer care refunded the outstanding balance from the error in the store that the staff member wouldn't listen to. Can't say enough about how polite and helpful the telephone and chat service is from Orvis customer care, but I am weary of rolling the dice with the type of response I get at this location. Since the relocation, the selection is substantially less; however, the service has improved. Unfortunately, the choice of what I have expected as core Orvis items are gone: the hopsack blazer selection of Barbour clothing is gone.

I am not faulting this particular store. Quality is there; former Kaufman’s employee is there! The selection of what anyone would expect from Kaufman or Orvis isn't there!

Please, stock these professions with the tools of their trade: selection, sizes, dignity, and innovation!

They have everything you need to hit the water, and more. What makes this shop truly great though, is the staff. They've got a fishing report from somewhere local everyday, and are happy to point you in the right direction with the gear you need to have some fun. I'm a huge fan of the classes and events they put on as well. Everything from the entomology of your favorite river, to learning how to cast a new rod. I always look forward to the 'happy hour' evening events, and definitely recommend signing up for their newsletter to be in the loop of what they have...
