Had a very bad takeout experience from this place! Food was not as authentic as I thought it would be. The bibimbop had a strange take and was not very appetizing. They used romaine lettuce instead of the traditional toppings. It seemed more than a salad than anything. Also ordered a beef tofu soup and it was closer to a traditional Korean tofu soup. However, they skimped out on the side dished (4 tiny pieces of cucumber, 4 small pieces of broccoli, 4-5 pieces of bean sports, and 4 pieces of radish). The third dish was chicken yakisoba. Again a mediocre dish. The noodles was on the soggy side and had an overpowering taste of the sesame oil.
The prices for these common dishes are overpriced for this small portions. Sad to say that they even forgot the rice for the tofu soup. I asked if there was utensils in the bag and the server said yes. When I got back to the hotel to enjoy the meal, there were only chop sticks and zero spoons or forks :-(. It was a bit of a challenge to eat the soup without s spoon.
This restaurant's seems to have mediocre food and bad service. Let me tell you about my takeout expereince. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order, I stood before the "Please wait to be seated" sign for like 10-15 minutes without being acknowledge. I later discovered that the server AssUMEd that I was with another asian couple that was sitting down waiting for their table. Then another couple walked in and was acknowledged by the waiter and was later approached to be seated. I had to interject and said, "Excuse me, I was here first". The server was both embarrassed and apologetic, after realizing her mistake of AssUMEing that I was with the other Asian couple.
Bottom line, I will not be ordering from this establishment again! I was not at all impressed with the mediocre food...
Read moreEver since our old sushi spot in Sherwood went downhill back in the day, we have been looking for a brand new spot in the area. After trying 5 or 6 different places, we finally tried Hero Sushi and have not looked back since, and it's hard to believe that was seven years ago. Now, our family has a great relationship with the staff and Art is my man when it comes to making sushi. Each time I visit, I like to give him a little challenge of a few ingredients or flavors I want in my omakase roll and he delivers every time. Even writing this review, I am salivating at the thought of the last dish he prepared for me (my challenge was scallops and warm). Honestly, the only reason we probably go there so much is because of Art, he has been the mainstay for so long. So they better keep him forever, because if he goes somewhere else, we more than likely will follow. Then my typical comment of "Never again!" while leaving the restaurant might...
Read moreOverall, pretty decent. Prices are about what I would expect for the food (not high but not conveyor belt prices either). Service was good. Waitress and the sushi chef said hello to guests and were attentive.
The restaurant itself is small. Pre Covid would seat about 7 tables total (excluding sushi bar). With Covid guidelines in place there was about 4-5 places to sit. If going during a lunch or dinner time it might be prudent to reserve a table in advance.
The furnishings were comfortable and nice tables. The environment was awkward when I arrived that there was no music and the ceiling tiles need cleaning (reason for -1 star). The decor of the restaurant is also what I would call “expected” but not anything exciting or authentic.
A good place for some sushi.
I did ask for plum wine but it is not something they have available. A handful of sake options were available in addition to...
