2/4/22 Update:
Walked over to Ava’s today with my dog for a mid day break, and the first thing I noticed is that they have now put up tents over their outdoor seating so that it is covered and you can stay dry, even if it is raining. Nice touch guys! I really like this new feature as I’m not personal eating indoors anywhere yet at this point, so I normally can only come hang out at your coffee shop in the summertime. So very well done.
I went inside and got a breve latte (pretty much my go to drink when I can’t decide what I want) which I must admit was ready much faster than usual, and then I just sat outside with my dog and relaxed for about a half hour. It was definitely chilly (heaters anyone?), but at least I didn’t have to worry about getting rained on. — This may not be the quickest place to get a cup of coffee, but fast doesn’t always equal great. And over the last few years, it has definitely become one of my haunts, especially in the summer since there is a ton of outdoor seating and it is walking distance from my house. I love taking my dog for a walk, then stopping in for an iced breve latte, and sitting out on their patio with a good book for a break in the middle of my work day. It’s one of my...
Read moreFirst I watched them make the incorrect amount of the drinks I ordered. When they realized this they asked their coworker what they should do. Their coworker responded with "just fill the rest up with ice" When it was pointed out by another coworker that they missed an ingredient they asked me if I wanted that ingredient anyways. I responded in the affirmative but the barista told me that they didn't see it printed on the instructions. I shouldn't have to point out to an employee that the drink is 3 ingredients; (Thai tea, Cream, and Ice) Last, they then poured whole cream over the drink to the point of it overflowing, making no effort to clean it up simply putting caps on the drinks. While the barista was still standing in front of me I took a straw and attempted to place it into the drink leading to it overflowing all over the cap and counter. The barista offered no help, no offering to remake the drink, or clean them up, she simply walked away.
I then cleaned up the cups to the best of my ability and left. After all that it tasted rancid. whether it was my bad experience or bad ingredients I can't tell. I threw it away as...
Read moreToday was my first day trying Ava Roasteria. I did not get to physically view the location, as I ordered from Doordash during work. Their matcha latte was adequate for a pick-me-up, tastes like most matcha lattes that aren't Starbucks (which is good, because I am not a big fan of Starbucks). I was quite impressed with the cup, which looked a lot nicer than most disposable cups I've seen from smaller companies.
But what really impressed me was the Dad's Delight sponge cake. I was a bit grossed out by the dessert being really wet due to being soaked in rose water, but it was moist and tasty. Cardamom is one of my favorite ingredients ever to be included in desserts, and it tasted great in this treat as it wasn't too overpowering. Also, I hate sponge cakes that are too sweet, and this one was just right. The pistachios on top were like the icing on the cake. And for only about $4 too! I'm salivating right now just thinking about the cake, I...
