Horrible Experience at Paradise Marina and Watersports

This was supposed to be a fun vacation activity, but it turned into a nightmare. We went jet skiing at Paradise Marina and Watersports, and while I was helping a friend, a minor scratches happened on the jet ski. They immediately charged us $550 and called the police, treating it like a criminal accident. I was shocked when I got a court notice.

What made it worse is that when I looked at older reviews later, I saw that other people had similar experiences—scratches or small issues blown out of proportion, scare tactics, and huge charges. It really feels like a scam setup when you return to the deck.

Also, the owner or manager were extremely rude, and the owner or manager made an awful comment before we even got on the jet ski: “Hope you come back alive, not as a body.” Seriously? That’s how they talk to customers?

This place ruined our vacation. Please don’t make the same mistake. Avoid Paradise Marina and Watersports at all costs. If you’re looking for adventure and fun, go anywhere else.

In response to your reply: Please don’t make false claims. The injured rider is my friend, and at no point did he threaten to call the cops. His jet ski flipped unexpectedly, and that’s when he got injured — not due to reckless behavior, but possibly due to issues with the equipment or conditions.

Trying to shift blame by making up statements only damages your credibility further. Instead of taking responsibility or showing concern, it seems like you're more focused on covering up what happened.

I would highly recommend Paradise Marina & Watersports. The staff are all fabulous, from the check in, through the orientation and to the final check out. The pontoon boat we rented ran flawlessly and was easy to operate. We spent several wonderful hours on the lake before it was time to head back. Along the way we dropped off the bulk of our passengers at our rental. We then proceeded to start back to the Marina. An unexpected and heavy rainstorm struck as we were leaving the rental unit and engulfed us on our way back to the marina. At times is was difficult to see due to the amount of rainfall but we made it back without a problem. We even made it back quicker than expected as the wind was behind us and pushed us right along. The Marina tried contacting us by phone to seek shelter but I did not get the phone call because I had the phone buried trying to keep it dry during the downpour. As we approached the holding point to be waved in, the staff, already in a boat, raced out to meet us and steer us to a little cove out of the rain and wind. Once I n the cove, one of the staff boarded and captained the boat back into the dock. This was really appreciated as the wind was gusting pretty strong and I was a little concerned about docking the boat. Once we were all safely back on the dock, my group, and several other groups did our best to stay out of the sideways rain & wind. We had a great time on the boat. Especially appreciated the huge team down at the water front that did everything from thoroughly orient us to the pontoon, gave some cove ideas about where to swim and tube, and then navigated us back to the dock when our rental was ending. Very friendly and helpful group. We did not have any issues with scratches or accusations as some customers have outlined. In fact, our boat was incredibly clean and in great shape when we got it, including the floor, the seats and the life vests. Boats can be really nasty and in poor condition, and this was nothing like that. The team noted minor, pre-existing areas of damage at the beginning and took photos before we got in, as well as let us take a few photos too. We also did not have concerns about the restricted area in which we were to take the pontoon - the outlined area is huge and all of the things you would safely want to do with the boat are available. In fact, it gave us comfort knowing that the team would be able to reach us quickly should we need assistance or run into bad weather. Also, they can keep their prices reasonable by keeping their liability insurance low.
