Orange Grove Shopping Center — Local services in Lake Wales

There are several shops here. Tractor supply is a disappointment. The employees know nothing about poultry but they still get LIVE chicks, ducks, etc that end up being neglected, not cared for properly or dead/dieing. Only carry higher priced feed/farm supplies. However, employees are polite and attempt to be helpful. Harbor freight is where I drop off the hubby so I can shop in peace 😉. He drools when the place is mentioned so I'm assuming it's a great store 🤷. Family dollar, I posted review under thier own name. Chinese buffet was awesome when the buffet was open. Never slam packed, food cooked in small quantities so was never left on hot bar all day, decent prices and the owner and his family were so friendly and happy.. that always made the meal more enjoyable. Talked with you like an old friend. With buffet closed, it hurts them alot. Take out was not very cost friendly in my opinion. Food is always great and fresh. The other restaurant, Mary's I think is name, didn't impress me at all. Hours open were not convenient at all. Subway is a joke. Meat market is overpriced and not up to any standard of quality. Pizzanos pizza is a small pizza joint with fantastic food, great employees, (remember just about every reg customers name). Prices are a tiny bit high compared to other pizza places but food is worth it. Laundromat is very clean, cost is average but dryers are very efficient. Employees are very polite and helpful. Orange Grove shopping center needs new life. It has Tractor Supply, Anytime Fitness, and Harbor Freight. Those two stores are the anchors of the center. The Family Dollar could help but their store and storefront are not appealing. It looks junky. The parking lot needs to be redone and the aesthetic needs to be updated. They need to attract new stores. It needs to become a destination. Its been right there in the center of LW forever. There is no reason it couldn't do a little better. With JC Penny's closing and other stores, maybe they could attract a retail shop? I'm dreaming here but a Target would make me so happy. A well-known Health Food store could do very well next to Anytime Fitness. Two stars for the anchor places mentioned and one because I believe it has potential due to location. This nursing facility takes such wonderful care of my (reluctant to be there) husband. His CNA Blossom takes outstanding care of him. Is patient with him, etc. I would really like to get him into a newer wheelchair than the one he has at present. The arms are old and all crackled up, and housekeeping isn't doing a good job of keeping it clean regularly. Food all mashed into his seat cushions seldom cleaned. Cushions in the chair is not quite thick enough for continuous sitting. He's a little man, but falls often when he attempts to leave the chair and walk.
