I really love this Lifetime location, and up until today I had nothing but positive experiences at this beautiful Lifetime location. However, this afternoon I have never been treated so poorly in my life by a front desk attendant named Don (a middle aged white male with a bald head), and I had to leave this review in hopes that corporate will take a further look into Don to determine if there are patterns of mistreatment of guests as I am concerned he could become a liability for this Lifetime location that is otherwise phenomenal.
Here is what happened: this afternoon I drove about an hour from my second-home in Wisconsin to workout with a guest I had in from out of town. When I went to check-in, I let Don know that I had a guest and I would like to use one of my guest passes. Don was immediately and notable off-put just by my request - guess it was extra work - and then he went on to ask my guest if he had been to a Lifetime before. My guest told him he went to another Lifetime in Arizona five weeks ago. Don then immediately told us that my guest cannot workout here because he used a guest pass five weeks ago and a guest pass can only be used once every six weeks.
From here, I politely asked Don if he could please make an exception, considering we drove almost an hour to get here, I had never used a guest pass before in my years of being a member, I did not know about the six week rule nor that my guest went to another lifetime on a guest pass five weeks ago in Arizona, and finally he was almost at the six week mark anyways. Unfortunately for us, Don must have been having a bad day, as he told me under no circumstances could he make an exception. When I requested again to please make an exception, reminding Don that I have never used a guest pass, and I am a very good customer, as not only have I been a member for years, but in the past I paid for one-on-one personal training 3 times a week for almost a year (thousands of dollars), so I would really appreciate the favor. In response, Don in a very rude manner stated no again, and even further, he stated he would be happy to cancel my membership if I didn’t like the rules because they have a wait list for this location, and, “if I was smart I would have called ahead.”
I was truly floored with Don’s response, as it was so rude and blandly smirky that it was clear to both myself and my guest that he actually enjoyed the fact that he was able to use his tiny bit of power to not only deny the entry of my guest, but actually insult me. I have never had or even heard about a front desk attended at a gym treating a guest so poorly. I guess I really just do not understand why when you have to put someone out like this that you then have to be rude on top of it. It’s like he was having a bad day and wanted to take it out on someone. Obviously I think it is pretty bad that he would not make an exertion to the rule, but to say what he said on top of this was wrong.
Like I said before, I love this gym and up until today had all great experiences. However, I really hope corporate takes this review seriously and takes a close look at Don to see if there is a pattern of complaints and mistreatment. The front desk is your first impression, and from this experience, Don might not be the best person to be the face of this gym. If this is how Don treats a long-term guest like myself in this situation, I am sure he would do nothing but escalate a truly...
Read moreRevision after using this facility for 2 months: I've tried various classes such as yoga, hot yoga, dance, Zumba, and En Barr, while also using the swimming pool 3-4 times a week, so I would like to update my initial review. The personnel at the front desk has changed a little and they are all friendly, informative, nice and very helpful. The entire facility, bathrooms, showers, including the sauna, swimming pool, steam room, jacuzzi, and yoga studios, are cleaned daily. In summary, the gym, and the atmosphere there is excellent and I love going there. I would suggest that the swimming pool is vacuumed at night.
Initial review: Life Time Fitness in Lake Zurich is a modern facility with membership fees exceeding $200 per month, but if you use BCBS, you can avail a discounted rate of $100 per month per person. Despite being one of the smaller gyms in its category, the layout can be a bit challenging due to the lengthy, winding hallways. Nevertheless, the facility boasts numerous state-of-the-art workout machines, two 25-meter indoor pools, a spacious steam room (though it may have an unpleasant odor), a sauna, two Jacuzzis near the locker rooms, and other newer amenities.
The staff responsible for the swimming pool is exceptionally courteous, friendly, and exceedingly helpful. On the other hand, the reception staff at the front desk often appear disinterested, occasionally bordering on rudeness, and are not particularly accommodating to new members, especially those like myself who pay through BCBS. Unfortunately, it felt as though I were more of a nuisance than a welcomed new member during my two visits to the facility. Regrettably, my overall experience was not a pleasant one. I've been at (4) different Life time facilities and this one has the least nice front...
Read moreBeautiful gym, but the hours are terrible and the gym is not friendly at all to those who travel in and out of town. Due to the nature of my work I frequently spend time between here and another state, and I often don’t know when I’ll be back and how long I’ll be gone. This means that it’s often not logical freeze my membership because they keep charging you when it’s frozen, and every time I come back I’d have to do the signup fee all over again. Even when I can come back after a whole year of being gone, and can only stay for 2 weeks, I’d have to pay the startup fee + the full month which is hundreds and hundreds of dollars just for 2 weeks. A day pass option would have been logical, if they refuse to do week by week ones. Lot of tiny TikTok generation teens/young adults going around recording elderly people with the intention of making fun of them online, that’s a behavior that I find disappointing to see. What direction is society headed in right. They have a restaurant here, that’s pretty cool, food is pretty par but it’s a good looking area. Supplements and things they sell in the restaurant area are sub par forsure, definitely get your supplements from elsewhere it’ll be much better quality and probably half the price. There’s a bar here, which is pretty funny considering it’s a health club and even the food they serve is healthy but I can’t complain about that, it’s probably for special events and that one dad/mom that doesn’t want to join in on the family workouts, who knows but probably a pretty cool place to get work done. Other than that, no real complaints. When I am in town I like to come here, but I’ve stopped coming here specifically just out of annoyance of their mediocre...
