This is hands down the best Indian food I’ve ever tasted. I really love the depth of flavor in the palak paneer, chicken biriyani, chicken tikka, and tandoori chicken. This last time I told the guy the heat in the dishes are all a bit too much for me even though I love the flavor. He was incredibly helpful and took time to thoroughly explain whats in the dishes and made recommendations of what I may or may not like based on my “white girl spice tolerance”. I was so happy to hear that they will make most of it with out the heat if you ask. He even let me taste the biryani to gauge my tolerance of the heat. we tried his recommendation of the malai kofta made mild - we never had this before and it instantly became a new favorite dish. We couldn’t stop raving! The paneer tikka masala (made mild) was truly the best I’ve ever had which is strange because usually I dislike a sweet tikka masala! Just to be thorough, the naan is my least favorite. But this is just MY personal preference as my friend liked them. I prefer them fluffy, bubbly and chewy where these are flat and dense like a pita both times I ordered them. If I never had naan again I’d be ok because the samosas are just absolutely freaking amazing. As one reviewer mentioned, this last time I ordered it seemed like it should have been fried a little longer to make it more crispy. That said, the samosas alone are what kept me coming back even when I initially found the food to be too spicy for my mild tastes. All in all, with food this good, really good prices, and great service— sweet neem is it. I may never go back to another Indian restaurant. I wish I got that guys name that was so helpful because I look forward to trying the dishes he recommends! (FYI I only scored the atmosphere a 3 based on dining in. If you are looking for ambiance -this feels like more of a pick up your food and go type of place - with the option of eating there. It’s nice you can shop at the store...

I'm a top 10% Google restaurant reviewer in Illinois.
As someone from Tamil Nadu, I rarely come across a restaurant in Chicago or Illinois that genuinely understands the depth of Chettinad flavors.
I ordered the goat chettinad, and with the first bite, I knew I had found something special. The bold medley of spices such as kalpasi and coconut, the slow-cooked tenderness of the meat, and the unmistakable aroma of freshly ground masalas transported me straight to a kitchen in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. It wasn’t just food—it was nostalgia on a plate.
Many places attempt Chettinad dishes, but few master them. Here, the balance of heat, spice, and richness was just right—no shortcuts, no compromises. I could taste the authenticity in every bite.
If my taste buds could talk and thank me after a while. Sweet Neem has set the bar high, and I’ll return for more. This is the place to go if you’re looking for authentic Chettinad...
