Oakbrook Ace Hardware — Local services in Lakewood

Normally, I try to patronize local stores, but I will never again go to this particular Ace Hardware. I understand that they are smaller, so the stuff they have on hand is going to be less then a larger store, but they constantly seem to be out of stock or not have staff on hand for essential services like making keys. They also make returning anything incredibly difficult or impossible. Worst by far, however, is the customer service. The people I speak to rarely know what they're talking about, and don't seem to want to do anything. They were not even willing to help put aside a few bags of soil so that I could send someone to pick them up for me because I have a physical disability. Horrible customer service. Lady with curly hair on 4/22 around 6:50pm saying less than 5 minutes to shop- no problem I came in to get a small thing…proceeded to take almost 10minutes to check out. HORRIBLE attitude while I was waiting taking her sweet time with the line 4 deep. Other cash register person walks away with someone to continue shopping making zero effort to have some gusto seeing how backed up they are after the lady trying to have me hustle for nothing. They did have what I needed which is great.

My frustration is that they are open during covid, but when I asked if they had a restroom I could use, the checker had to call a manager to ask and then I was told no they did not have one for customers.

This means one of two things from my perspective, either they dont have a clear protocol - the employees dont know the rules or they decide on a case by case basis whether to let a customer use the restroom. I am not sure what the issue was.
