PLAZA THEATER — Local services in Lamar

We are so blessed to have the Plaza theater in our small town. Not only is it a wonderful place for kids and Families but the people that run it are like your next-door neighbor. It might not have the most advanced sound system as some in Joplin do but at least if you're sitting there watching your movie you do not hear what the movie Next Door is playing it's irritating and disrupting. Also it's a lot cheaper for a movie then Joplin or Nevada or anywhere else they have the 4-Plex movies. I'm hoping that the people of Lamar support our small one Screen Theater now that we have it. A few years ago we didn't have our theater and Winters were very very boring not much to do here when it's snowing like to have a good movie makes all the difference in the world. Scott Kelly is very good at picking good family-oriented movies. Thank you Lamar...

Only con: screen is a bit small (though, once you get into the movie, you forget about it), only one theater (no real choice in movies)

Pros: inexpensive tickets ($8 for adults!) and concessions, friendly staff, comfortable seating, and historic building (if that sort of thing catches your fancy)
