Pretty disappointed. We purchased our wedding bands 2 weeks ago and itâs been a frustrating process ever since. Long story short, the associate that sized my fiancĂ© determined he was a size 7 whereas my fiancĂ© and I kept joking before even getting him sized that he would be a âchildâs sizeâ - he has slender fingers. There are two different types of ring sizers that are used in store and we should have pushed to check the other sizer as we thought he would be a smaller size but we didnât - thatâs our fault. But maybe moving forward, inform your associates to size fingers on both ring sizers before placing any order. His ring is ordered online from the manufacturer and is shipped to the store. The associate put their personal name on their order instead of my fiancĂ©s - he thought it would be easier that way. Okay, whatever. It arrives, we show up and ask to pick up his ring. The manager was a little confused after she couldnât find it. I then nudge and say, your associate put it under his name. Bingo, she then found it. FiancĂ© puts the ring on and it is way too big. A whole fiasco started due to the fact Tungsten does not come any smaller then a size 7. The manager re-sizes him with what she claimed to be the âsizer that is always accurate.â Well, my fiancĂ©âs size is a 5 1/2 on that sizer, and the sizer she used was different from the one the original associate used when we placed the order. They stated they can put in a request for a special order and although we felt it wouldnât matter knowing they will not go down to that small of size, we allowed them to put in the request as I know they were trying to remediate the situation. Another issue arose when we were trying to place the special order. We didnât have the sku/item number for the original band, since it was an online order and we do not have the receipt as the original associate who helped us was having trouble even printing off our receipts the day we originally ordered them. We donât have his original receipt, and now we canât return it. We have later found out that tungsten does come in smaller sizes - my corporate operational assumption is Reeds will not order from their manufacturer any size smaller then 7 due to the fact any size smaller then 7 will hinder the durability of the band if we go down to a size 5 1/2. Thatâs fine, we understand that but now we have a $240 ring we canât return and we can just buy a 5 1/2 tungsten ring online for $40. I would suggest if you have any males in store who are a size 7, to size them on both sizers to determine what size they actually are so you arenât left in this situation in the future. Or, donât allow uneducated associates to place orders under their name, deem them to be a size they arenât, donât provide any receipt for the order, and leave your customers without any solution moving forward other then âpick out a gold/silver band and we can go down to any sizeâ - which is something my fiancĂ© was never interested in from the...
Read moreOur non-profit reached out to this jewelers shop to sell two diamond rings that had been donated to our organization. One of the rings was 2 carats or more and the second ring had five one carat diamonds. We were interested in scrapping the rings to help our center with funds. Laney confirmed that they would buy diamonds, and that it was a sellers market for gold. Upon arrival, she told us they were fake, even after she did a significant gouge in the most delicate parts of the large diamond ring, which confirmed that it was gold. She wanted it for free, then she offered $800 for the large diamond after insisting that it was a fake and that the ring itself was not gold. Two other jewelers in the mall confirmed that the diamond was flawless and the gold was real, and that the second ring was just as valuable. Laney played ignorant of the knowledge that KP meant gold plumb. Our organization has no use for jewelry, but even we know what kP means. Laney said that she would only buy the large carat ring if she could have the entire set. She said she wouldnât pay anything for the second ring because it was worthless.
Our organization has scrapped gold for funds in the past with other jewelry companies, I have never seen any of the jewelers gouge a chunk of gold out of any of the jewelry that we have scrapped. Not to the extent of the damage that Laney did to this ring.
One of the other jewelers that inspected the ring, someone which Laney had previously worked for, insinuated the possibility that Laney might have wanted the rings for herself, because âshe liked large carat diamondsâ. I guess it was hard for them to wrap their head around the fact that Laney was trying to get $15000 worth of diamond rings, with zero inclusions, for free.
Our organization just wants to keep our lights on and pay our rent, but to be truthful, this was a very appalling experience and another life lesson. We thought that with all of the good reviews that this shop had, that there was some integrity here. We are now having them appraised at an auction house and hoping that the damage she had done to the ring is repairable. If it wasnât for the other jewelers, we never would have realized the value of...
Read moreGot proposed to today, and unfortunately needed a resize immediately. Kevin at Reed's was able to get us in immediately and got it all done in half an hour! Thanks again!!!
EDIT
Well, while I am ecstatic to be engaged, I am less thrilled with Reeds customer service. From the very day I received the ring, I told my fiancé it seemed like a very different diamond and not the one we had purchased. We had purchased a 2.01 carat and from the video I had of it in the store the day we purchased it, this one seemed smaller and lighter in color. There are also what I can only assume are imperfections and inclusions that constantly look like someone has smudged it up with dirty fingers and now amount of cleaning the stone will take it away. None of this was visible on the stone we looked at and purchased in the store. It took months for Reeds to send the gem certification only after we pestered them quite a few times, and it said 1.51 carats. I called and talked to Kevin who sold us the diamond, and he said "We picked the diamond to fit your setting, so it's what fit the setting." Red flag. We bought the diamond before choosing the setting because I specifically requested at least 2 carats, champagne color, and emerald cut. I told him this and he said he would look into it. I never heard from him again. I didn't appreciate being brushed off and essentially lied to to get me to back off, then ignored. I will not do business with Reeds again and I'm saddened that something so special is now tainted with such a bad taste left. I feel completely ripped off because we purchased a 2.01 carat, I told multiple people the day I bought it that that was what I bought because that's what the stickered diamond pouch said when we looked at it, and now what I have is a significantly flawed and smaller diamond. Also upon inspecting it the prongs holding the stone in are severely uneven and not bent uniformly. All in all not worth your money...
