Discount Dave's — Local services in Lansing

I recently applied for one of his houses and got approved. Meanwhile I told him I will call him and let him know when I will be able to set up a time to meet , sign the lease and pay because I work the next couple of days. This was litterly less than 24hrs when I talked to him. Dave decides to call my phone this morning leaving a rude message saying I need to answer the damn phone or in 15 mins he's leasing it to someone else. Mind you, I have to be to work at 745 in the am so I can't answer my phone. I was planning to call him on my break to set it up but I refuse to have a landlord who leaves such a message for a new tenant. I decided to call him and decline because I told him I don't appreciate the message he left on my phone. He says We'll u were supposed to call me!! Dude I just talked to yesterday evening and I got off after 4 and you guys were closed. So my intentions were to call today..He says We'll that's fine, you just didn't have the money!!! And laughs!!! And hangs up in my face!! How unprofessional, disrespectful and unruly!! I would never deal with a landlord of that caliber!!! He was out of line for his comment!!! You don't know what I have sir!!! So pleaseee don't deal with Dave!!! He is not professional...

We lived in one of Dave's properties for 2.5 years. Pamela in the office is pleasant to work with. Both Dave and his son Duke were rude and unprofessional every time we had to deal with them. The house was in very poor shape when we moved in - we had to ask multiple times for any left over paint they used in our house so we could touch it up, it was awful. Neon colors poking out behind thin coats of cover up. It took a while to get things fixed - if they were even fixed at all. Our garage was broken into multiple times, and a drunk driver smashed through our front yard/ fenced yard...Dave never even called us back. not once. We improved that house 100 fold. When we moved out I had to call multiple times to get our security deposit back. They surpassed their legal 30 days to give it back - I should have just taken them to small claims court. When we did get the security deposit he charged us $50 to mow the lawn - mind you had he does this task in a timely manor the lawn would have been well groomed. of course 6 weeks later the grass is long, duh. Definitely would NOT suggest them as landlords. They don't care about...

Dave is extremely rude and standoffish on the phone and even more abrasive in real life. It immediately felt as if he was looking for a reason to be confrontational towards my roommate and I. When we looked at the property I found several issues with the home that I was willing and capible to fix myself as I am a licensed contractor. The floor was patched together with an assortment of tile, hardwood, and different colors of carpet, all in the same room. The dishwasher that was pictured in the ad had been removed and the space was covered with plywood. When I explained to Dave that I would need to speak with my wife about the property and was on the fence about it myself, he told me " you better keep on stepping". I would be skeptical about renting from a man who runs his property office out of a discount mattress store decorated with creepy clowns. This was absolutely one of the most bizarre experiences of my life and I thank you for it Discount Dave, my housemates and I have a lot to laugh...
