I wanted to share my perspective on my visit with my friend and her husband at Laramie Fitness today. I have never used this gym before as I am a regular member at Planet Fitness, but was interested to see what another gym in town was like when my friends offered to get me a guest pass for the day. I must say I was rather disappointed. Upon entering, we were greeted in a friendly manner but shortly after we were promptly informed of the mask polices after my friend removed his mask. Now I completely understand there are policies in place that are for everyone’s safety and should be upheld when using that business’s amenities. However, the manner he was reminded of the policies after not having used the gym for quite some time was uncalled for and uncomfortable. Secondly, seeing my friend was unaware of the policy regarding backpacks, the same employee who had shared the mask policy starting talking to the other employee about my friend having his bag with him as he left to go work out. While my other friend and I still stood there, the employee started discussing with the other worker, in a rather snarky manner, whether my friend would read the sign about bags and seeing that he did not seem to notice it, excitedly mentions that my friend clearly did not read the sign and proceeded to ask the other worker for verification of my friend’s name and hastily goes and tracks down my friend to inform him of the policies. Overall, i think it was just an uncomfortable and unnecessary way to handle the situation. The situation could have been completely prevented if the employee could have just kindly and professionally stating his understanding of my friend being unaware of policy changes and then just reminded him of that, such as, “we do ask that our member wear a mask until they arrive at their workout spot and that you keep your bag in the locker room for the safety of all our members. We appreciate your compliance.” Additionally, I thought the set up of the equipment was a bit confusing and didn’t care for the process of sanitation with everyone using the same rag over and over to clean equipment. I wish I had better comments to share but this was...
Read moreI am responding to my husband's (Carson Miller) review and the owner because I feel that it is necessary to get the whole story. Let's first address the mask mandate. My husband wasn't disagreeing with the policy because a business has the right to enforce it if they want to, but he complied once he was told to put it on. Btw, several gym members were not following the policies if you look closely on the cameras. You will notice people not wearing their masks when they are not working out and guys with gym bags lying about. Anyways, the real problem is your employee sir and that goes with gym bag problem too. As a former gym employee who has dealt with customer service, it would be safe to say that you treat every customer respect whether they deserve or not. Marty, the one who checked us in, is always polite, understanding, and helpful. But the employee in question was snarky, forceful, and rude. The video tape btw doesn't get words or even if it did, you probably don't get the tonality. Both me and my friend witnessed the employee not only speak harshly to my husband, but take off hastily towards him in an angry manner. I was so taken aback by what had taken place that I texted my husband about it even before he could talk about it to me. Even my friend had noticed the employee had taken things out of proportion and responded impolitely. If my husband was told something like "Hi I am just coming over to review a policy with you. Unfortunately, we do not allow gym bags in the gym area. Would you mind placing your bag in the locker room during this visit? We just want ensure the safety of our gym members.". But instead (along the lines of) he got "Obviously you didn't read the sign. That needs to go into the locker room". I am quite disturbed by your response to my husband's review because it shows you are more willing to make my husband look like the idiot who misunderstood the situation. As a business, you shouldn't be trying to cover yourself to make the business look good for people reading reviews. Instead, simply apologize and say you are going to make things better for...
Read moreI would give it Zero stars but google wouldn't let me. The construction is slow the sauna has been closed for MONTHS!!! Everytime you go in the sauna there some creepy old guy who ALWAYS needs the lights turned off so he can spread his legs and stare at you in the corner. The owner is a whiney nasty girl POG who gets butthurt if your music has the unspeakable "F" word in it. Everyobe for the most part that goes here has a staring problem and always tries to "out-do" you in lifts and it's annoying. The prices are way too high for how little they really offer. ESPECIALLY when construction is taking far longer than expected. Yes they do have more than the rec center but at least the rec center has a pool. The cardiovascular conditionin equipment falls dramatically short in comparison to the rec center. Always broken or making some sort of odd sound when in use. They heaviest dumbells are only 130 lbs..... self explanatory
So in conclusion I am more than happy to be moving to Cheyenne and get a membership at Gold's gym. This gym has been nothing but sub-standard. In almost every way. I hope someone takes the time to read this and actually research a gym before paying out the ass...
