I'm putting up a building and needed a truck and trailer full of lumber. I was talking to a guy I'm working with about the sad state of the lumber world and he said that he had had good luck with the material at BTU. Since I'm in Glorieta it was only about 15 minutes more to go to BTU instead of one of the box stores in Santa Fe. I like to buy local and figured it would be worth the trip even if the material was a little more expensive.
We pulled into the yard and talked to one of the guys about getting the trailer to the stacks (easy) and then went into the store. Before we even got situated the guy from the yard came in and introduced us to Joe who brought us back to his desk and took our order. No standing in line. Perfect service.
We also needed another framing gun for the project. BTU had a selection of Senco guns and air hoses that were the same price as it would've been at the box store.
I've been in the trades for a long time and have watched the local stores with service, be replaced by the boxes. I was super glad to discover that there was still a good local lumber yard around with friendly, informed and motivated staff. Thanks BTU, see ya next time.
