âď¸ 1-Star Review: Unprofessional and Disrespectful Staff at Leavenworth, KS Goodwill Store.
Customer service at this Goodwill (104 S Broadway St, Leavenworth, KS) is horrific, and the managerâs behavior is utterly unacceptable.
As a dedicated donor, frequent shopper, and disabled U.S. Navy veteran, I was deeply disappointed by the unprofessional treatment I received today, Sunday, June 22, 2025, at store opening (10:00 AM).
I arrived to donate a childâs car seat and was met by a male employee who curtly dismissed my offer, stating they couldnât accept it. When I politely asked about a dumpster for disposal, he refused to answer and stared blankly, denying his disrespectful behavior when I questioned his rude demeanor, which left me uncomfortable.
Determined to address this, I entered the store, where I shop nearly daily, and requested a manager. An older female supervisor approached with an irritated posture, hands on hips. Her response was shockingly dismissive: she asked, âWhat do you want me to do about it?â and sarcastically remarked, âOh, he wasnât being sweet, so youâre upset?â She ignored my concerns about the employeeâs offensive behavior.
When I asked for the corporate contact number, she refused, telling me to âlook it up on Googleâ and claiming she didnât know it. She also withheld her name and walked away, leaving me humiliated and undervalued. This isnât the first time Iâve faced rudeness from management here. A month ago, I contacted Goodwillâs corporate offices about similar disrespectful behavior from this storeâs management, but I never received a response. This is completely unacceptable!
After leaving upset, while carrying the car seat back to my apartment, I tried contacting Goodwillâs customer service but reached only automated systems. A lead employee at the Shawnee branch kindly offered help and promised to pass my details to their general manager, Matt.
The blatant disrespect and lack of accountability from the Leavenworth staff, especially the manager, do not reflect Goodwillâs values. As a long-time supporter, Iâm disheartened by this mistreatment. I urge Goodwill to investigate and ensure all customers are treated...
Read moreHorrible horrible management! My grandson found an electronic game there on Saturday he was so excited but no price on it . Not even sure it even worked it had no cord to plug in , so I asked the kid that was up front if he could ask for a price , he went to the back and I followed him , as I stood outside the double swinging doors I hear the manager LIZ and the other employees trying to come up with a story as to why they couldnât sell it to me . Then I saw Liz talking to the young kid saying tell her it was left behind by someone and she couldnât sell it to me as it was to be sent off to online service. The kid came out to tell me and I said before YOU LIE TO ME I heard the whole conversation! He immediately went and got LIZ who came out and I said I heard the conversation and lies that you are telling and coming up with !, her reaction was I CAN SELL IT BUT IT WILL BE PRICED ACCORDINGLY so in other words you will price it extremely high ! I told her I would be contacting cooperate and she turned around and walked back to the back with out another word. I grabbed my grandkids and left ! I WILL NOT DONATE TO YOUR BUISNESS AGAIN AND I WILL NOT EVER SHOP THEIR AGAIN !!!!! I will be calling cooperate and telling everyone I know that this is how your Leavenworth store is ran , on lies ! I can tell this kid has challenges I knew him when he went the Leavenworth school district and LIZ IS HAVING HIM LIE TO CUSTOMERS !!!! If I were his parents I would be very very upset , I thought goodwill taught learning experiences?. To me this is not a learning experience but a shady...
Read moreWe regularly come to this location because it is so close to our house. Itâs not gigantic, which is something I enjoy because it isnât overwhelming inside. All of the staff here have been extremely kind and the store itself is relatively clean.
The main complaint that I have is the pricing of items. Itâs not even the increase in overall prices that is frustrating, itâs the inconsistency. Itâs understandable that employees take into consideration that certain brands and collectibles are worth more. There are regularly coach bags priced at 70+. But when there are two identical items priced differently (like two of the same skeins of new yarn, one for .99 and one for 3.99) it is a bit confusing. Also, sometimes you will find Walmart brand kids clothing marked for 1.99 a shirt just to see another next to it for 7.99. Iâve even seen mainstay home items marked as more expensive than the same item new/on the shelf at Walmart. At the same time, Iâve seen a dirty hamper priced at 9.99 sitting directly next to a solid wood, cedar lined, dovetail jointed antique vanity in amazing condition priced at 12.99 (total score, it came home with me and now houses my makeup).
Maybe the pricing is out of their hands but at other Goodwill locations in the area Iâm finding consistently low prices. Either way, we still enjoy coming here but it would be nice to see clothes and housewares, especially items that are known to be budget brands, priced in a manner that families on strict budgets...
