I've donated over a $1,000 worth of clothes, furniture, shoes n etc. But now that I'm in desperate need of a washing machine n I'm disabled on a very very low monthly SSI Disability check; I've spoken with a couple of people who are in charge of the Haven House n they told me last week that if they got one in that they would donate it to me but now I just spoke with a man that's running them n he told me that he wouldn't donate to me if they got one in. If it wasn't for us who helps them out with donations including all of the churches that also donates money then they wouldn't be in business. I WILL NOT BE DONATING ANYTHING ELSE TO THE HAVEN HOUSE. THEY'RE HERE TO HELP ONE ANOTHER BUT INSTEAD THEY HIJACK THE PRICES THAT THEY GET FOR FREE. THIS PLACE GETS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF MONEY ALONE DONATED TO THEM N THAT'S NOT COUNTING ALL OF THE PROFITS THEY MAKE N GET FROM SELLING ALL OF THE FREE ITEMS THAT'S DONATED TO THEM EVERYDAY. I'VE DONATED NEW N USED SHOES, CLOTHES, COOKING ITEMS, DISHES, TV'S, HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, CLOTHES DRYER N ETC. THERE'S A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR GREEDY, SELFISH N UNAPPRECIATED PEOPLE LIKE THIS THRIFT STORE THAT STAYS IN BUSINESS BY DONATIONS... GOD DON'T LIKE...
Read moreI had a decent amount of good stuff left over after a garage sale and I took it to the "large national chain" thrift store just because their truck is right next to the grocery store and its easier. They were so rude and unhelpful that I left what I had set out already then closed the trunk and left. I should not have such a bad taste in my mouth after DONATING items. And unfortunately this is not my first experience like this with them. In COMPLETE contrast, I took what was remaining to the Haven House where 3 guys met me at the door to help unload my car. They were so incredibly nice and friendly. They said how much they appreciated donations and how the proceeds go directly to help them eat, pay bills, etc. I don't care if it is just a tad more inconvenient, I will be taking any items I have to donate to The Haven House in the future. Keep up the good...
Read moreI needed another pair of shorts and found Haven House on my travels. Decently organized by section, there was a full aisle of mens wear including shirts and long pants but not much for short pants. After some digging, I found three and tried them on. Two fit, one did not.
$2.50 each and surprise, there was a $10 in one of the pockets. Surprise, free clothes and a donation to the cause!
Lots of thrift store finds here - more clothing, furniture, small appliances, golf clubs, books, DVDs. Friendly...
