I am not one to give bad reviews, but I am so upset that I thought I would leave one. So I just got groceries from there and I havenāt been at this base long, since I just got married and moved here. Apparently there is a dress code for the grocery store but I was unaware of it. Either way I had on jeans, and a strapless shirt, nothing revealing at all. I walked into the store with my husband and began shopping for a hour and a half. No one says anything to me, then when I am checking out, a manger comes up to me to ask me if I know what the dress code was. I told her I donāt know what it is, then she proceeds to tell me how my shoulders need to be covered. I was like okay, I didnāt knowā¦but I got it for next time. She then tells me I need to leave while I am already checking out. I then tell her that I am literally finishing up and that I will leave within the next 2 minutes when I finish. Then she turns to my husband and asks him if I can leave and he finish checking out. I then respond before he can respond and tell her I am paying so I need to be there. She thens kind of looks at me with a blank stare and then leaves. That is ridiculous, I have no problem with a dress code but to kind of harass me after being in the store for a hour and half, and while I am literally trying to leave the store is crazy. Once I said I didnāt know there was a dress code, she should of just left it at that and just reminded me for next time. But to try to get me to leave the premises is extreme and uncalled for. It is 2023, and because I have my shoulders out that should not be reason to have my leave the premises like I am a criminal. This...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe commissary store on base is a decent supermarket overall. The customer service can vary from being the bare minimum to somewhat good, which can be a bit of a hit or miss at times. However, the store does offer a wide variety of items and has a great selection of different fruits and vegetables.
One thing to note is that the quality of the vegetables may not always be the best, so it's important to thoroughly check before purchasing. On the bright side, they do have beautiful house plants for sale, with the spider plants being a personal favorite. The pots and pans, as well as kitchenware, section is also worth mentioning as they have a good selection available.
When it comes to seafood, it may be more convenient to purchase it elsewhere like Sam's Club or Walmart as the selection at the commissary store may be limited. However, they do have a good section of cleaning supplies which is always helpful for stocking up on household essentials.
The deli and bread section at the commissary store is pretty good and offers a nice variety of options to choose from. One thing to be aware of is that they do ask for tips for the baggers at the cashier unless you opt for the self-checkout option.
Overall, the commissary store on base is a decent option for grocery shopping with its wide variety of items and convenient location. Just be mindful of the varying quality of produce and the tipping policy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCommissary offers a wide selection of most foods that is well stocked and maintained making your grocery shopping experience good; that is until you reach the check outs. Just a few things to be aware of that I wish I had known to avoid aggravation and upset: REGISTERS WITH MANNED CASHIERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL 9:30. (Online it shows 8:00 am.) And I will tell you that they will NOT open a minute earlier. I had over $200 of groceries that I had to scan and bag myself with no assistance. š” I am aware that you can go through self check out earlier but itās no fun with that many groceries. 9:30 is ridiculously LATE in opening for a grocery store. I feel our soldiers, veterans and their families deserve better! Baggers can show more gratitude and appreciation in serving the soldiers of Ft. Polk. Itās the least they can do for all the freedoms they provide for us! There needs to be a grocery pick up covered area for inclement weather. Parking lot to actual entrance to commissary is quite a hike with a basket full of groceries in bad weather. That is uncalled for. Letās get it right for...
