Fort Polk Food Court — Restaurant in Louisiana

It seems that if you visit the food court in a weekend when there is not a lot going in, make sure you are prepared for old food. Sunday evening, the family hit up Panda Express. The abundance of noodles, rice, and steamed vegetables should have clued me in. I figured that I would still get the orange chicken since that is the most purchased and likely to be the freshest entre for the evening. Boy was I wrong. I ate 2 pieces of the orange chicken and had to take it back. When I ate the first piece, I figured it could have been from a previous batch and now was over done a bit. It was quite crunchy and did not taste of chicken at all. The second was like eating a very crisp pork rind, but this was supposed to be chicken. When I told the worker, I tried to explain I was done eating altogether but all she seemed to want to do is give me another serving of orange chicken which looked to be fresher. I tried explaining that I really was done eating and just showing them the serving they gave me. I was not looking for anything more. Not the best PX in the Army by far. The people working the gun counter have no knowledge about the hunting and fishing licenses, and post hunting/fishing regulations, other than how to print them out. It also depends on who's working it if you're gonna get any real help with their gun selection. Don't try to get a haircut if a unit is rotating through JRTC. You're looking at a 45 minute wait at a minimum. The kiosk vendors are pretty standard when it comes to the junk they're peddling. The alterations shop is highway robbery. The Game Stop, and GNC are pretty good though, as far as that goes, and the restaurant selection in the food court...

The options are limited and it's small. Subway likes to close well before actual closing time and the workers are rude. Trash cans are often full, soda machines are regularly out of flavoring so it's just carbonated water coming out. The people at Panda Express and Slim Chickens are very nice though and the food from both of those places is fresh.
