I am normally not someone to write reviews, but I felt a need to because of how unpleasant my mom and I’s experience at Sincerely Susan went. I had made this appointment for my mom to find her mother of the bride dress. We were helped by Christine and at first, everything was going okay. However, my mom is very shy, and doesn’t like attention on her. Our stylist Christine made my mom pose for photos in the dresses to see how she looked on camera. I understand this is maybe her way of hyping my mom up, but I could tell my mom felt uncomfortable the whole time but just went with it. I also asked Christine at the beginning of the appointment if I could be the one to help my mom into her dresses, and she said well I’ve never had someone ask me that. She basically told me that she knows the system better with getting my mom in multiple dresses faster. I understand where she’s coming from, but I felt like she didn’t respect my mom’s boundaries or my request.

I told the stylist that I primarily wanted black dresses for my mom to try on, and maybe a couple colored ones, such as a green, just to see how she liked them. My mom tried on all black dresses until 20 minutes left until our appt end time. When my mom asked if we would be able to finally try on a green dress, Christine said well your daughter said you wanted black and seemed upset my mom even said anything, because we were ending our appt time. My mom apologized and said she realizes she has other customers to see and she understood. The stylist said well I’ll try to pull one and she did, which we appreciated.

At the end of the appt my mom was having a hard time deciding which dress she liked the best. She said she didn’t have a “this is the dress” feeling and was struggling to know what to do. Christine tried to help her eliminate the other dresses but was very pushy and impatient when my mom couldn’t make a decision. She kept on harping on the one dress she liked the best, and thought that was the dress my mom also liked. My mom felt very overwhelmed and said she needed some time to think. Christine then said well I have other clients to see at 4pm. It seemed like she was just trying to get my mom to buy a dress so she could make a sale. My mom ended up just taking photos of the dresses and wanted to think overnight on her decision and potentially come back once she thought about it. I told Christine this and she said okay well I hope you know we don’t order sizes and so when she comes back, we probably won’t have the dresses she wants. I told the stylist that we understood and appreciated her time today.

When we were walking out, there was a mannequin that had the one green dress my mom tried on. Christine looked back and pointed at the mannequin and said, see, that dress looks great on the mannequin. But when you guys come back, that dress will probably be gone. I couldn’t believe that Christine said this.

Overall, my mom and I felt just rushed and not respected in this appointment. We understand that sincerely Susan honors its appointment times, and wants to make women feel confident in finding their dress. But my mom felt like she did something wrong when she entirely did not. We also left the store right at 4pm when our appt ended, and it was not like we were going over our time. I hope other women have a better experience...

A lot of people love this place and it came highly recommended. I recognize that I’m probably a different kind of person when it comes to shopping, but I will leave my honest opinion in case there are other ladies like me. I tried to go in with an open mind, but I didn’t love the design of the shopping experience, though the gal who helped me was nice. I’m a private person and I prefer to shop on my own. Here, someone else picks out what you are going to try on. They had nice gowns at a good price point but I was limited because I’m supposed to wear a specific color, so I only had about 7 choices in my size. Someone spends the whole time in the dressing room with you, helping you try on the dresses, which is probably to keep the dresses from getting damaged, and because it’s hard to zip some of them up in the back by yourself, but not super comfortable for a private person. For me, it was hard to really decide if I liked something when I only had a certain amount of time and someone else was standing in the dressing room with me. I didn’t find what I thought I was looking for, but was trying to keep an open mind. There was no pressure, but after having a gal help me for almost an hour, I felt like I couldn’t just walk out of the store without making a purchase, so I bought a dress and gave a tip. As soon as I got to the car, I knew I hadn’t made a good decision - I wasn’t excited to wear this to my son’s wedding - but I couldn’t return the dress, only exchange it, though I didn’t love any of the others that I tried on, either, so the exchange option isn’t a great one. And I don’t really want to go back in to try on dresses in front of people again, either. This store is great if you like attention, assistance and an audience, but if that’s not comfortable for you, it might not be your favorite...

I had the very best experience at Sincerely Susan in the search of a mother of the bride dress for my daughter’s wedding this February! Pam’s expertise in assessing my body type and matching the style of the wedding with her objective and honest opinion of several spectacular dress options made the whole experience memorable and truly so much fun ! The owner, Susan, and the other ladies working that day all participated in the experience and it was very evident that their camaraderie and joy in their work environment spilled over to bless their clients. Susan was especially kind and generous in donating a damaged dress from her inventory to my daughter to have made into a wrap to match a gown we purchased for one of her wedding events. Thank you again Susan ! I left with a dress, jewelry , shoes and clutch for the wedding , rehearsal and an extra dress for a future event because I just couldn’t pass it up! All dresses are $300 and less and accessories are wholesale prices and under and superb quality and many high end brands which range from formal to more casual styles. My daughter and daughter in law also found dresses for the rehearsal dinner and bachelorette events. It truly was a one stop shopping experience with great value and more importantly the customer service was well beyond my expectations. In fact , I may honestly consider a part time job here because the women were that special ! Shopping here is by appointment only and guests are more than welcome to join in on the fun. What a hidden gem this shop is ! I will recommend it highly to all of my friends and will be back in the future for dress attire for future events - wedding and non weddings.
