I would like to begin this review by saying that I used to love Mi Ranchito when I first tried them, up to about the last 5 visits. However, I think this was their last chance at keeping my business.
To start, I called twice to make a to-go order, and after waiting for 5 minutes (10 total with the two calls), the phone just hung up. I gave up and ordered online for an extra fee. They were busy, so this part really was understandable, but added to my frustration with the rest of the experience.
I ordered a cheese crisp salad, which is supposed to come with a jalapeño ranch. Between this location and the location on 119th, the last 4 times I have ordered take out the ranch was forgotten. So when I went into the resturant I requested ranch before I left. The woman I talked to was nice but I don't think she understood what I was asking for. She just kept telling me that the bag had my order. So I brought the bag out to my car, dug through it to check the box with the salad, and not surprisingly, there was no ranch. So I took the box back in to show the same waitress that I did not have a side of ranch and could I please get some. She went and got another woman and I repeated that I just would like the ranch that went with the salad. She was really confused that I wanted ranch with a salad for some reason, but she went to get it. Meanwhile, an older woman has also come up and is just staring at me without saying anything while I wait. I can also hear the younger woman in the kitchen and I catch bits of the conversation, such as "I'm really sorry, she claims she didn't get ranch.....brought the box back in...." she finally returns with the ranch and I turn to leave. As I'm leaving I can hear her talking about what happened with the older woman in Spanish. I do not understand Spanish, and so I do not want to accuse her of being rude, but it still made me feel bad and like I was being an inconvenience for wanting what my salad came with. The ranch ALWAYS gets forgotten. That was how I knew to check for it before I left. I wasn't trying to ask for a free meal or anything, I don't think asking for ranch was unreasonable. The food this time was very good, but between this uncomfortable visit and the decrease in food quality between multiple locations (very bland fish tacos, extremely overcooked chicken burritos to the point where it was barely edible), this was my last visit unless they return to their former quality of food and service. I apologize for asking for ranch...
Read moreWhen we were taken to our table the floor and table itself were not clean. Then, my pepsi was lacking syrup and tasted like soda water. I told the waitress but she didn't offer to fix the problem so I ordered a margarita. When that came it had an orange in it, instead of a lime. I figured they were out of lime so I gave it a whirl. It wasn't for me, I prefer the fresh squeezed lime juice on the rim. I asked if they were out of limes, she said "no, but I'd have to cut some". She didn't offer to get me a lime. When my fried tacos came, the shells were stale and chewy.
I told her the problems and she offered to replace the food, but by that time my family was done eating because she hadn't been to our table in probably 10-15 min. She didn't offer to do anything so I had to tell her plainly that I wouldn't be paying for these bad items. I went to hand her my plate because we were all done, but she refused to take it. She also failed to bus any of the other items. Then stated she had to get the manager to comp the items.
The manager never showed up and she was gone for about 5-10 minutes. By this time my family had went outside to wait. Despite then being gone and me having my card ready she placed the check in front of me and walked away again.
She took another tables order while I waited for her.
A bus boy came and cleaned the table next to me but no one ever bussed the items off the table in front of me while I waited.
The manager never graced me with their presence.
This was mothers day dinner for my wife.
I will not be returning to this location.
Note I have ate at the 119th St one many times and never...
Read moreI would have given them 3 stars but this was a carry-out order and it took me going back to the store. Had I been a dine-in customer the frustration of getting back out in the cold and the gas spent in a second trip was really uncalled for, I ordered the special. So online I placed my order, Saturday special was the Carnitas. The description is maybe where the break down in actual results occurs, I honestly don't know. At any rate it described the pork, its seasoning, and that it was served on a bed of grilled onions and accompanied by lettuce, Pico, avocado slices and grilled jalapenos. I even checked so if not I would have gotten some guacamole. I paid online so I could run in grab and go because it's cold on this 19th day of December at 9pm. When I got home there was not a single veggie to be seen. I was so disappointed. I gathered my gumption and went back up to the store. The manager did refund me and even offered a free special. I gladly took both remedies. I was hungry after all. When I got home, everything was there except the grilled onions. Again, it was part of the meal I personally looked forward to and even when given opportunity to correct it, it was still overlooked. So maybe the description was outdated?!?! I'm not sure but my tacos missed their grilled onion and why I wanted to place this review. It was a free meal so I wasn't going to go back up to the store but for those who want to know just always check orders before leaving the store and as for the Mi Ranchito in the northland which is my CHOSEN store of patronage, I'll stick to it and leave the one on 95th St in Lenexa...
