Weis Markets — Local services in Leonardtown

I’m giving the new store a 3 for the grocery choice. However, a 1 for hot food and cafe table area. 1) you have to buy the food at the regular checkout area (nowhere near the hot food and table area). Basically need to leave the store and come back in the other doors to use the tables to eat your food. Very inconvenient setup, obviously not well thought out. 2) bought chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks to eat and found the chicken tenders to be stale and tough like they had sat for half a day under the warming lamp. Also the mozzarella sticks had no mozzarella (all were hollow inside - see pic) like they cooked them so long the cheese dried up). When I complained to staff about the food they did walk me over to customer service desk and I was given a refund so that was good. I’d say in general for the store they should’ve done more staff training before opening. I asked 3 different staff questions they should know the answer to and they all were lacking the...

There are some unique items that arent available at Foodlion, but some staples lacked variety. Only self-checkouts were open when I left around 9pm. We had a full cart so that was especially annoying. The self-checkouts weigh each bagged item so there was a lot of picking things up to place back down. Also had to put bags on the floor until the cart was clear enough. Asked one of the handful of employees chatting at the checkout area if there was a regular register open when we first realized the self-checkouts were going to be frustrating. She said "were just going to make this one work." She had to come back multiple times to make it work. Someone else did end up opening a register when we were halfway through scanning.

TLDR The self-checkout is trash. Don't go in...

Looks very nice at first glance, and I do like the extra self checkout lanes. However, in three separate occasions I’ve found that I purchased bad items.

The first one was packaged spinach, which I could say is my fault for not checking well enough.

The second is a jar of marinara sauce. Opened to find it full of mold.

Third was sour cream. Purchased 15 November, expires 26 January. Opened to find it completely curdled and foul.

Produce I can understand, but if we can’t trust canned foods or expiration dates then what are...
