Initially I left a 1 star review (see paragraph below) but I received a response from the owner who made a genuine effort to make things right. You can see I was offered some free services. They did set me up with a free month membership and during our communication Melissa and Patricia were very helpful. I was happy to see that since I was last in the gym, some clear expansions and improvements have been made. Also I was impressed with the attention to detail regarding sanitation and CDC guidelines. Professional, good communication, good business.
Havenât used the gym since the Spring because of COVID. Noticed I had a normal monthly charge on 10/2. Went into the gym that day to cancel my membership. I was told they needed to charge me again to cancel my membership. So I was charged twice for the same amount on the same day- apparently the second charge was for the month of November. (Considering I was canceling on the day of a billing cycle that should have been the end of it.)That didnât seem ethical considering I just told them o wouldnât be using the gym again. I made them reassure me that I would not be charged again before I walked out of the gym. Yet I see another small charge in November. When I called, instead of an apology and correction, I was told I wasnât charged the correct amount in October. Long story short- poor customer service. Do your self a favor and workout at home during this risky pandemic and save your self the poor customer service while...
Read moreAs a member/visitor to most of the gyms in the southern Maryland area at one point in time, I can honestly say that this is the worst facility around. The staff do not foster an environment in which everyone feels welcome and the facilities were not clean. The employees hardly greeted me and were not helpful at all with any type of question I may have had. I was wrongfully charged for a gym membership that I cancelled a long time ago and the staff had no sympathy what so ever because the paperwork wasn't filed correctly on their end. I had a witness go in with me to cancel my membership. My bank statements also show that as soon as I transferred to the Mechanicsville World Gym (great gym by the way) that I had not stepped foot in the Leonardtown gym. I had not accrued any type of damage to their facilities and I had not taken up any gym space for that amount of time, but they did not care. I would not recommend this gym to anyone looking to better their life mentally and physically because they don't make you feel welcome. Once they get your signature you are a long term pay check - nothing else. I was in the wrong for not checking my bank statements thoroughly enough to follow up on THEIR mistake, but they are entirely unethical. Drive the extra mileage to a gym where all of the staff knows your name and are happy to assist you in anyway - the...
Read moreIf I could give this gym zero stars I would. Iâve been going to this gym since the doors opened 20 years ago. Since the new owners have taken over this place has completely gone downhill. The machines are old and the owners refuse to buy new ones. The cardio machines are either broken or the employees donât even plug them in. The children working the front all have such bad attitudes, especially the girl with the red tips. They donât greet you or even look at you for that matter. Theyâre constantly on their phones and will ignore anything you say to them â incredibly unprofessional. Not to mention, theyâre now trying to charge customers to go to the World Gym in California, when it used to be free for all members. They are obviously money hungry because people are leaving their gym. Iâve discussed these issues with many customers, customers of 20 years like myself, and theyâve all said itâs time to cancel our memberships and go to Planet Fitness. Sadly, this is what itâs come too. I used to love going to this gym, but since the incoming owners, itâs on the decline. I wish they never took over because they have ruined my...
