I was there 3 weeks ago waiting to check out. No person was manning the check out. There was only the automated machines to check out and they were not working properly so a guy was trying to get them working. I had fried chicken from the deli in a small box in my left hand at my side. Slowly there was about 6 or more people besides me waiting for another register to open up.
While waiting I was talking to the woman to my right when a female employee bumped into me on my left side. She knocked my chicken out of my hand and the container opened onto the floor. She said, "oh, I was trying to squeeze by you." She never said "excuse me" or anything else. She then darted back and opened a register. I walked up she said nothing. No offer to get me a replacement at the deli no nothing. She just stood there. I put the stuff on the conveyor and stared at her and she stared blankly at me offering nothing, no resolution. I said "I don't want to eat this," then walked out. Read moreThe 3 stars are only for last Saturdays visit. My family has spent summers there over 60+ years at what is now North Shores and spent many dollars supporting the previous IGA and now Jeff's Marketplace. Memorial weekend however made my head spin when shopping there. We love what you've done with the place and the staff is usually so friendly but Saturday the stockers that I encountered were in over their heads. My question was holiday weekends why can't stocking be done at night, even schedule some after hours. The aisles are just barely wide enough for two baskets to pass. Add boxes of stock and people sitting on the floor not willing to move or apologize for it, presented a big problem. Instead of running into Meijer we try to save gas and support the local businesses but that may have to change the next time I approach your door and a lady comes out, hands in the air, saying "Good luck in there". Hopefully you can find a way to eliminate the congestion over July 4th or Labor...
Read moreI live in Lakeport (half way between Lexington and Port Huron). At age 72, I want a quintessential country-store shopping experience. I start by taking a leisurely drive on the backroads to avoid Lakeshore Rd. (M-25). Next is Jeff's parking lot (short walk to the entrance). Then comes the feeling of 'home'. Their prices might be a tad higher than the big box stores, but I think of it as a tradeoff for my shopping experience. They have an amazing meat counter, and their fruits/vegetable section is always...
