I'll start with the positives. The delivery men were incredibly helpful, kind, and respectful. They even figured out a solution for us in a timely manner and were polite and empathetic the entire time. The single star is for them (and only them) and if I could rate them independently they would get 5 stars. We also love the couch, were happy we had a more affordable and local option for furniture, and appreciated the prompt delivery. Both my partner and myself work for local organizations and always strive to support local businesses as often as we can. However, the owner or manager was extremely disrespectful and did not properly communicate their company's delivery policies or options to us. We paid for the couch the day before the delivery was scheduled and my partner was told we would receive a phone call that day at 10:00 am and be given a 2 hour window when the delivery would occur. We figured we could make this work as we could each spend one hour of our lunch break waiting during that window. My partner got a call at 10:00 am letting us know our window was 10:30 am-12:30 pm. We were more than happy to be there, however, 30 minutes is not enough notice for most people during their work day and we were both in meetings until at least 11:00 am. My partner requested that the delivery drivers come a little later and said 12:30 or 11 would work better. The manager informed us they would try but that it would most likely be closer to 10:30 and they ended the call. My partner then got a call at 10:25 from the delivery driver saying they were on their way. At this point I called the manager myself and let him know 25 minutes was not enough notice considering A) we paid for this delivery service and were not properly informed that we would only be given 25 minutes notice B) we both work 9-5 and it was already difficult to make the 2 hour window work in our schedules. The manager, in an incredibly rude tone, replied "ma'am all of our customers work." He continued to talk down to me and would not listen to my concerns as a paying customer. I am in my early 20s and both my partner and I work in the non-profit sector. This was a huge purchase for us financially and while we were excited about our first new couch the entire interaction left a bad taste in my mouth. If we had more money to shop elsewhere we most definitely would have and I almost considered returning the couch and going with a non-local option due to the mistreatment I received at the hands of the owner or manager. I will not be returning to this establishment and I have several friends who are moving and looking for new furniture who will not be shopping here either. I was excited about my first big furniture purchase and was excited to shop local but have been incredibly disappointed by the way this company has treated myself...
Read moreThe owner lady treats buyers and sellers differently. If you are trying to sell an item, she assumes a defensive/ aggressive position and tries to degrade the items to lower price. I have a nice wooden table from Ashleys and wanted to sell it for $100 which is a decent price ask for. Since she does not pick up items anymore, i said it would be $150 because we need to rent Uhaul. She immediately bashed Ashley products and how she will only give $100 even with us delivering.
When it is a buyer, she has a different attitude.
I think, a business owner should treat people with respect regardless of being a buyer or seller. Degrading products, aggressive and defensive postures are cheap way to do business. Yet, i wish them to best and hope they change their tactics for future sellers.
Edit after owner response: Not sure what you mean by I took it personal. My review was the way you treat buyers and sellers differently. I wanted $100 for that product which is what you accepted as well but when you declined to pick up which is an advertised service on your website, I requested additional $50 for truck rental to bring item to your shop. Thats when you started degrading the product. Your attitude is different to buyers, more positive and welcoming; and defensive and degrading to sellers. I suggest you to take reading comprehension classes to understand your...
Read moreI'll start by saying we need more places like this in Lexington; that is locally owned places funded and supported by those who live in the community. This place sells used & new furniture. The sofas and couches are new however I do believe. The thing about this place is; you have to have a keen eye, or you will overpay for the item, whatever it may be. Having said that I bought an oil lamp there last Friday (day after T'Giving) for $15 which included a 10% off store wide that was not advertised I don't believe. The lamp was an absolutely perfect late 70's-early 80's era oil lamp. They gave it away really. I've bought a couple other items there for around the $200 mark or under which resulted in profit for them but a nominal one. They have fantastic stuff here no question. You just need to know your stuff to score here. I'm the type who would pay extra simply because it's owned by local people, but be real careful because you can pay 50% or higher than what something...
