I'm never one to write reviews, good or bad, about anyone or anything, but I think that Calypso's future customers deserve to know their "policy" BEFORE they are put in the situation that I was in. I went into the store yesterday and bought 2 things. Once I got home, I put on the jacket that I bought, and realized I probably should have bought a smaller size. Side note: I had to have the jeans that I bought hemmed, so I took them to a seamstress. The seamstress had my receipt from the store with my jeans and accidentally threw it away. When I went to go EXCHANGE my jacket for a different size, the girl (who acted like she had no idea what in the world she was doing) looked at me and said that she could not simply exchange the jacket because without a receipt, "their system does not show the item". Having worked retail before, I looked up the return and exchange policy before even thinking about arguing my case. Of course, it does not say anything about not being able to exchange without a receipt. When that was brought up, she says "it's not our policy, it's our owners' policy". That being said, it would probably be best that 1) Calypso works on customer service, 2) update their system to where they can either email receipts or have some other form of proof of purchase rather than a paper receipt like it's 2002, OR 3) ensure that EVERY customer knows before walking out the door that they MUST have the receipt in order to make an...
Read moreSo I went to this boutique very recently with a friend and they are very clearly not black people friendly at all. I shop quiet often due to me modeling so I am always looking for something new and different to rock in my shoots. I seen some pieces from the window that I really wanted to buy and had finally managed to take a day to stop by with one of my stylist. But once we entered the place everybody just literally stopped and stared at us and was whispering as the continued to stare. People that worked there never greeted us or tried to make me feel comfortable. They pretty much looked at us as if we didn't belong there as well. I tried to stay and ignore the fact that at that point I was super uncomfortable but I couldn't bare it anymore. So we left feeling extremely awkward, weird and very disappointed. I really advise that if your a women of color to not go here. I have never felt or been treated like this EVER. My black sisters this is not the place for us....
Read moreI had a pretty terrible experience looking for clothes here. However, I did find some barrettes and they looked super cute, and some of the girls working here were very sweet so I wanted to get something at this local business. I realized after I checked out one barrette I got was $16. I thought it wasn’t a big deal since I was supporting somewhere local and it must be sourced handmade or something because it was so expensive for a hair accessory. No. I was horrified to find out it was from Aliexpress. It’s $1 with $1 shipping. Naturally, after finding this out I was deeply disappointed and thought maybe I could return them. This store has a no refund policy. This is exactly why- they sell extremely cheap and unethically sourced products for handmade prices. I’m genuinely so insulted and mad at myself for shopping here. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Super...
