I've had a couple negative experiences here recently that led me to review with only 2 stars. There is a negative vibe towards women that I feel when I've shopped here alone. When I ask a question I feel as though I'm spoken down to, as if it's a dumb question. I may not be well versed or experienced in remodeling a home but as a new homeowner on a public teacher budget I'd appreciate good deals on furniture and home repair projects. Unfortunately when I recently visited and asked how to "hold" an item I was interested in until I was done looking at the rest of the store. I was looked at like I'm crazy and told, "we don't hold items." I explained I wanted to get a furniture piece but obviously it's not like I can pick it up and carry it around. It would have been nice to have been informed that I could take the tag off of it and carry that around. Instead I wasn't told about the process at all and by the time I was ready to check out, it had already been taken by someone else.
The line was 5-7 people long with only one cashier. When another employee finally came to help he answered his cell phone for a personal call. Then a man behind me in line, cut in front and the cashier didn't seem to care at all. I felt like a woman in the 60s or 70s but this is 2018 and things are different now so despite someone's one I hope they can be educated that this discrimination is unacceptable! Women work hard, and deserve the same respect and service as a man, even if it is in a store that may employee or service men as customers more often. I tried giving them another try a couple days ago, showed up at 6:05 and they informed me there hours had changed and they now close at 6. I wasn't able to go in and take a quick look. When I asked Alexa before leaving the house she said the hours were until 7. The official website had been updated when I checked upon being turned away, but apparently somewhere on the internet hadn't been updated. The new hours started July 1st.
When sharing this experience with friends on Facebook, another woman commented on this same attitude towards her from who we believe to be the same Restore employee. If you want to raise money for a good cause, I suggest you encourage all employees to start treating all customers the same.
Why even 2 stars? Because some prices are exceptional for what you...
Read moreThis review is for a recent experience. Overall I'd give the store a really good rating. I have shopped at this store for many many years, purchased no telling how much and donated a lot as well. The employee SUSIE, has always been sorta unfriendly even when being friendly to her. I was going to purchase an item for a $1.99. I carried it a while through the store, so the tag must have come off on something else while looking. The item had a rough texture so the sticker probably wasn't adhered well. When I went to check out, she was very adamant that the item was $2.99. I asked her questions as to how 'she knew' it had that price. How did she remember that specific item from a few days ago? She suggested that she thought I took off the price sticker intentionally. It became clear that SUSIE wanted to feel in control and to boss someone around. She was very loud about it. I told her $1.99, and she said she didn't haggle (???). She said she had the right to price items and it was going to be $2.99. I was really trying not to be frustrated. Finally, the man behind me offered to pay for the item, he was very kind. I told him that was too nice, but eventually agreed that would be okay. Susie wouldn't allow him to pay for it. I told her that the item now had a negative energy about it, and I wouldn't be able to look at it without thinking of her rude face and voice. She yelled at me to never come back. I was upset when I got home over the way she...
Read moreAmazing finds, sub par customer service (spec. older woman up front; I assume she was having a bad day or the norm). There were three ladies behind the desk/ registers. One was at the register working and two looking at their phones. When I approached and asked for some assistance, I got an eye roll from the older woman and hesitation to help me find the price of a piece of furniture. She was unfriendly and made me not want to visit a place like this again. However, today when I showed up to pick up my piece of furniture, after being told they were super busy with helping people with furniture at pick up and If have to wait a while, a man named Travis walked right up, asked me what I needed, grabbed a dolly and helped me get my piece of furniture into my car and even provided me a little rope to tie down my hood. He was super friendly, super helpful and very efficient. Wish all the workers had his sense of...
