My favorite Lexington bagels. The everything bagel is truly everything. You can buy them by the dozen and half-dozen in stores or across the street at Good Foods. I love the location, affordability and also, the bathroom. It's decked out in Star Trek cats, which is so specific and endearing. Anyway, more importantly: If you're looking for a hangover cure in Lexington, this is a good bet. I've enjoyed the Hulk Smash breakfast bagel, which is vegetarian. They also have some veggie options for their lunch menu, but I haven't tried these yet. Vegan options aren't marked but I bet substitutions are pretty easy here. I have tried their coffee and it's a little sweet for my tastes. However, they've got some of the cutest names ever. The Samwise Gamgee is cold brew with espresso, vanilla, caramel and milk. How cute is that ??? Check them out if you're in the area.

I have had this place a couple different times in the past. I never was a fan of how greasy the sandwiches were, but I was convinced to give it another shot. Walked in and waited about 5 minutes at the register before they took my order. Guy was meh, not too friendly. Food took a pretty long time for how empty the place was. I received my bagel sandwich and was disappointed to see the terrible slice job of the bagel. One half had just a sliver of bagel while the other had the rest. My main problem is how nothing stays together in the bagel. The whole thing kept falling apart and by the end of it, I was basically eating a casserole. Also had to use lots of napkins due to the heavy grease.

We love visiting Southland Bagel on the weekends and their Just Beet It sandwich is a favorite. All of their bagels and spreads are great, but it seems that they’re never toasted enough. They come out of the toaster looking the same and are cold by the time we get to them. UPDATE: After requesting our bagels be double toasted, they were again only slightly warmed, as shown in these photos. We understand that they’re boiled fresh with Kentucky ingredients each morning but it’s not too much to ask for a bagel to be browned and actually toasted for the customer. They’ve pushed back on this from other reviews and for these reasons we won’t be returning.

Southland Bagel

I stopped by Southland Bagel this morning, I’d been wanting to get here for a while. For a baseline taste test I tried the Plain Bagel with Plain Cream Cheese It was Toasted Crispy Goodness on the outside, Chewy Tender inside. They didn’t skimp on the Cream Cheese A Generous Schmear so that every bite had a creamy luscious tangy bite! That setting the standard I decided to try......(who am I kidding, I destroyed both of these Bagels!) I had the Hulk Smash, more like Whole Marvel Universe Smash! Fried Egg, Cream Cheese, Avocado, Spring Mix, and Pepper Jelly!!! I had it on an Everything Bagel. Just enough sweet from the Pepper Jelly to sneak through all of the savory packed into this Sandwich. OMG!!! Flavor just shot out of every Fist Smashing Bite!! Don’t just think about bagels for Breakfast, their menu has some tasty looking lunch and dinner options. I’m sad I hadn’t been coming here sooner, I was missing out on great food, and Great customer service. I couldn’t make it down to the farmers markets on the weekends, but I can definitely see why they are one of the favorites of the regulars!! I’ll be back as often as I can! I’m so excited to have these folks on Southland Drive, and I’m looking forward to see what they will be doing in the future. Good Luck to Sam and the Crew at Southland Bagel! I’ll...

Just moved to the Rosemont Garden area from Chicago and was psyched to have a bagel place so close. We went for breakfast here the first 3 days after moving, in a row. The food and coffee is good, so we went back on day 4. I had taken notice that the service was less than.....eh. (I am however used to not being treated the greatest, when patronizing businesses.) We also figured that being outsiders it would take a few visits for the staff to warm up to us. We also figured that signing up for the reward club, tipping generously and spending roughly $100 in the last 3 days would ingratiate us with this local establishment. Well, we walk in on our 4th day in a row and the welcome was less than friendly. There was no welcome whatsoever. We stood at the register for the span of 2 1/2 pop songs playing from the overhead speakers. Two employees were standing within feet of us and would not recognize there were humans standing in front of them. At 2 separate points they walked up to the register and walked away. Now.... if they were busy, I understand. A simple "we are swamped" from behind the counter would have been plenty enough to placate us. If you don't want out business, informing us of that would have been met with understanding, as well. But flat out ignoring 2 customers who were striving to become regulars is...

Well don’t even attempt to walk into this store with just putting your mask on. The young lady behind the counter will not so politely ask you to pull it up over your nose. In which it was until I started speaking as it does fall a little. So with that being said I felt like I was making an attempt to help out a small business by going there. The food was pretty good all in all but I will not be going back. Not for the fact I was asked to pull my mask up but the way it was said and yes it was my first impression of Southland Bagel.

And as I thank you for your lengthy review and education on COVID-19. I as well own a small business in Lexington and have for over 18 years. A simple thank you and short explanation would have been sufficient enough. So hopefully who ever reads this will use their own judgment.

Maybe you should spend more time correcting the problems customer’s experience with your business. Instead of being so defensive and...
