Gambino's Fresh Market — Local services in Leyden Township

I am new to Elmwood Park and have been going to Gambino's about 2-3 times a week for the past month and a half. I love this store and think it has a great set-up and everything I need is there. It is about 5 minutes walk from my apartment and very close-nit family store that provides almost everything I need. I would definitely want to note that some of their produce is old and you would need to look at the apples, oranges, and other produce you buy before you checkout. I bought apples and various other fruits and found our they were bad on the inside so I don't think I'll buy any fruits from here again and threw away all of the apples I bought... On the other hand, their deli staff in the back of the store are very nice and are a great help. They are very friendly and when they are getting my order done they are talking with the customers and making connections with you. Other store staff including the younger cashiers are also nice and get you checked out very quickly and on your way. I would only recommend to the store owner to have a staff member out in the produce section that will take care of the produce that is out in the open. I have rated two stars just because of the issue that I ran through, other than that the store is perfect and clean. I will update my review when I have a better experience next time I go...

BEWARE CELIAC PEOPLE! They are slicing bread and making sandwiches right between the meat and cheese slicers. SO STAY CLEAR! Even th GF lunch meat is not safe. When I voiced my complaint to Vito one of the store managers. He didn't even let me finish my sentence before he was walking away saying that's fine. I said I would not come back his reply again that's fine! ZERO STARS

In response to your comments Tina... I Was told your Deli Mgr. Was not there and Vito was very RUDE !!! And said nothing other than thats fine and scratched his head. THERE ARE NO PARTICIANS BY THE SLICERS. I am quite aware that you are not a Gluten Free Facility! Your sandwiches and other food products were always made next to the deli not in the middle of it. Every employee there could not be bothered. And I even heard one of them say as they were coming in "well another day in the he'll hole" you can defend your store and your actions and rudeness of your employees but until you make some drastic changes I will tell everyone to shop at there own risk. Check your expiration...

I always order the Sub sandwiches as a go to for get togethers because they are great for parties and everyone loves them.

Today I called in a order for 3 foot longs I needed for a picnic on the lake at the last minute and was informed that they were swamped and it would be about 45 minutes before they are ready.

Oh boy, what am I going to do now? It's a father and son trip today, I have my toddler with me who's about to fall asleep in the car and I'm already running late.

I planned on running in and grabbing the tasty goodness before he took the "planned" nap in the car while heading up north.

Anyway, the woman on the phone must have sensed the distress in my voice when I asked if there was any way to make them sooner, so she asked someone to help her get my order ready.

The sandwiches were ready when I arrived 15 minutes later, she really saved the day and our picnic!
