I went to a Saltdogs game (11 Aug 2023) because a bunch of coworkers were going and encouraged me to go. I had never been to a baseball game before, so I went despite not being very interested in sports. Was I glad I went? Yes. Will I go again? Probably not. If I go to a Saltdogs game again, it won't be in during the summer when it's hot and humid.
The positive points are: They had plenty of spots for parking, and parking was free. They had a decent variety of food. The staff did so much to make the game entertaining. The customer service was friendly. The lines moved quickly. I also appreciated that there were built-in cup/bottle holders on the back of the seats.
The negative points are: Everything is so expensive. I paid $9 just for 1 funnel cake. However, the funnel cake was perfect. I also spent $13 on 1 bottle of pop & a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger reminded me of the cheeseburgers I was served at my high school cafeteria. I'm not saying it was bad, but it should have been better than that for the price I paid.
My 2 biggest complaints were with the seating. First, the seats were too narrow. For better or worse, most people in the US are a bit on the big side me included. Second, there isn't enough room for walking. I went with a group, so I wanted to get up and talk to different people during the game. However, there is so little room to walk that it makes it very inconvenient for everyone when someone wants to get up and walk away from their seat. It's worse than movie theaters.
I doubt I will be back, but keep in mind this review is written from the point of view of someone who doesn't give a rip about sports. I still stand by my negative points. Even if I was a fan of baseball and the Saltdogs, I would still be bothered by the fact that the stadium was designed with the idea of people wanting to get up and leave their seats in the middle of the game as an...
Read moreHaymarket Park is simply one the best baseball stadiums in the minor leagues. The experience of going to a game here is made relaxing by the excellent design. It is consistently clean, the grounds crew does a fabulous job of keeping the field in crisp condition, and with berms, regular seats, and suites, it can handle customers with almost any interest in their night. It has two playground areas, one beyond each foul line, allowing kids a place to play when they're more interested in playing with other kids than watching the game. All around, this is a venue that Lincoln should...
Read moreI just got back from visiting Haymarket Park as my team the ASU Sun Devils just visited Lincoln to play the Huskers for a 3 game series. I can't say enough about the ballpark and the knowledge and friendliness of the fans! The fans were extremely polite and friendly even though I was wearing the opposing jersey and I was blown away by their knowledge and devotion to the home team. Location was also great right by downtown Lincoln! I would highly recommend any college baseball fan to come here for a game! Way to go Huskers fan! You guys were truly awesome and what a ballpark...
