My wife and I visited this TJ Maxx in Lincoln around 7:00 pm. I noticed right away that the entrance to the fitting rooms was blocked by a clothing rack, with an employee sitting behind it. We continued shopping until about 9:00 pm. Since the store was still open for another 30 minutes, we decided to try on the clothes we had selected.
However, when we approached the fitting room, the same employee was still there, and when we asked if we could use the fitting rooms, she told us they were already closed. I asked to speak with the manager, because it made no sense that the store was open but the fitting rooms were not—especially with an employee clearly assigned to that area.
Unfortunately, the manager responded in a very rude and unprofessional manner, saying that the fitting rooms were closed because there was “no one to work there.” This was simply not true, since the employee had been sitting there doing nothing since 7:00 pm. Essentially, the employee was being paid for two hours without providing any service to customers, and the manager not only allowed this but also covered for it—which speaks volumes about his level of professionalism.
The level of customer service and the way the fitting room policy was handled were unacceptable. My rating for the manager’s attitude and the fitting room experience (despite having staff present)...
Read moreI am not sure what happened to this place. It used to be a normal TJ Maxx store and now they seem to be under the impression that customers are trying to steal anything not nailed down. I wanted to try on sunglasses. The sunglasses were 10 bucks. Every pair of sunglasses has this theft prevention device that is on the part by your temple. the glasses don't fit normally with the antitheft device on them. The dressing room lady and jewelry lady both told me they couldn't remove it and that I would have to go to the cashier. One mentioned that she wished they could change the policy because they get constant customer complaints about it. So I stood in the big line to get to the cashier to remove the theft device and she told me that she could remove it but I couldn't take them anywhere to try them on (like somewhere with a mirror) because she would get in trouble. These are 10 dollar sunglasses. 10 bucks... Handbags are the same way. Every bag has this theft device on it which locks it to the rack it is on. So you can't take the bag over to a mirror or try it on your shoulder, etc.. Shoes also have an anti-theft device which makes them annoying to try on because it is hard to tell if they will fit once the device is removed. This used to be my favorite store and now shopping there is so annoying that I probably won't...
Read moreOld lady manager tailed myself and my boyfriend who's black.
I only recently started shopping at tjmaxx while looking for an alternative to Walmart for housey things. I've recently gone twice on my own just to see what they had and kill some time. never had any issues myself just wandering around. brought my boyfriend in to buy a can opener, we impulse grabbed a strainer, then just wandered the store pretty aimlessly because he had never been in the store and wanted to see it all. he liked the store a lot but when we were roaming through the men's clothing section, I noticed an old lady wearing a solid name tag (I assume she was a manager) kept crossing our paths. i watched her shake shelves trying to look busy just for her to then squeeze past us repeatedly. very clearly tailing us. its uncomfortable to experience racial bias, we checked out pretty quickly after that.
just wanted to warn other customers just in case. would hate for someone else to be treated like criminals just for shopping like everyone else. my boyfriend is kind, respectful, and lives with integrity. it makes me nauseous to think about how the rest of the world treats him just because of the color of his skin.
to the old lady who felt he was some kind of threat to the store, im disappointed in you. you looked ridiculous shaking...
