I had my first.... and last... experience with Warehouse B yesterday. I went in looking for glass-front wine fridges that they had advertised at low prices on Facebook Marketplace. When I got there I saw they had dozens...if not hundreds... to choose from. All scratch and dent, which was my understanding going in, but all at much higher prices than advertised on FBM.
Basically, they're about 80% of retail, and while FBM lures you in under many separate "seller" accounts touting prices at $50 to $150, they all point back to Warehouse B. And when you get there, everything seems priced at $300-400. I believe they have a term for this in the world of advertising that begins with the word "Bait" and ends with the word "Switch".
I turned around and left, after briefly scanning the vast array of offerings of the rest of the store, which consisted of: electric scooters, firepits, and cheap rugs. That's pretty much it.
Now I admit, buying up HUNDREDS of scratch and dent wine fridges from retail return, then putting them for sale in Lindon, Utah, which is about 98% tee-totalling Mormon, and then sticking high prices on them, is a marketing strategy that was not taught at my business school. I'm guessing they must get them at super low liquidation prices and the mark-up is so high on each one that they can afford to trickle them out slowly. They sure ain't making up for it in volume.
I'm a wine drinker IN NEED of a wine fridge and I walked away without kicking the tires on a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI made another purchase at Warehouse B yesterday. While I was waiting for Isaac, who was fantastic to work with btw, I looked around. The store is spic and span clean, which I found remarkable considering the items are all B stock. I watched some guys come in and buy pallets full of items that they must be re-selling. Anyhow, Issac was really busy. But he was extremely helpful. I was buying a scooter for my wife. Isaac was low pressure, but after asking questions about who the rider would be and our intended use, he was a wealth of knowledge. I found a scooter that will be fantastic and saved a bunch. If it didn't have a B stock tag, I would have thought it had never been used. We will be back! Highly recommended. My 7 kids are all adults now. But trying to buy scooters for 7 kids would get expensive. I wish Warehouse B was an option when we were in that mode. We could have bought much better scooters and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWaste of time. I saw an ad on FB marketplace for portable AC units. I asked if they had dual exhaust (which I did mean to be dual hose) and they replied back yes we do have dual hose units in stock. I took the hour long drive down to go purchase two units, and they do not have dual hose unites. The first woman I spoke with said she has never seen one, but she would get the tech who works on them to help me. He also said he has never seen a dual hose unit. When I responded to to the message on FB they said "we must have sold them yesterday". So the retail employee has never seen a dual hose unit, the tech who works on all the units has never see one, but they must have...
