This is a great resource for anyone looking for a wide range of Asian foods (including Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Indonesian, Indian, etc.), as well as looking to buy good, fresh produce, herbs and spices, kitchen items, noodles, frozen prepared foods not easily available in lots of other local grocery stores, and you name it.
Because it's Vietnamese-owned, Asian Super Market probably accentuates Vietnamese items more than others. There's also a food counter at the back of the large store where you can order prepared food to take out, ranging from pho to báhn mi to eggrolls and spring rolls. We bought all of those items today and took them home to eat. The báhn mi was first-rate, stuffed with roast pork belly, cucumber, carrot, pickled daikon radish strips, in a nice-sized baguette slathered with mayonnaise. The pho was good if not spectacular, with very generous proportions. The spring rolls were fairly good, though the dipping sauce for them wasn't the best. The eggrolls and their dipping sauce were the only items I thought could be improved.
In addition to the Asian foods, Asian Super Market carries both fresh seafood from south Louisiana (and perhaps south Texas), as well as a nice selection of frozen Cajun sausages from companies like Poche's. The people staffing the food counter and running the store couldn't be nicer, and there's...
Read moreIt's crawfish season! I usually get my main crawfish fixings from Faded Rose, because their seasoning and spiciness is just right for me. If they don't have crawfish available, I go to Eat My Catfish. EMC is a definite steady and reliable place here in Arkansas, but it is on the salty end for me. I am trying to cut back on some salt. Some of the soaked crawfish at the bottom of the bag gets too salty for me. Still shout-out to them for their catfish. I was shopping for some Asian products and went to this Asian supermarket. I was surprised to see that they sold cooked crawfish to order. It was $8/pound which is not a bad price nowadays (Could be better especially on how crawfish use to cost). This place use celery/lemon in their boil. See the picture. Now, that may be a good or bad thing for some folks. Some people like strictly crawfish in their order and not be charged by the pound for that, but I let it go since it was $8/lb. Other places are charging higher and I do like celery and lemon taste in my seafood boils. I got it spicy and there was a decent kick, but I prefer to have a slight sweetness with my salty flavor which my Faded Rose has. It tastes less salty than Faded Rose and much less than Eat My Catfish. I think this is a decent spot for crawfish fixings. I wished they sold boiled corn and potatoes too. They should do some...
Read moreWe bought durian fruit in the frozen light the whole it was cost $45 plus tax so it’s about $50. Something was really bad and didn’t smell like Dorian at all. I never buy any durian that never smell like durian. I called the store if I have received, can I return the food? It was so expensive otherwise I wouldn’t ask for return, they respond. No, we have put the sign for food or nothing to return after buying for me felt that is wrong if you sell something and it’s not right, you gotta make it right as the business I would not recommend this place at all you have to buy something you be careful before you leave the shop. Make sure they’re OK because you can’t return anything if it’s strong or bad after you leave the store I’m just real big on small businesses. But still you got to...
