I went through an unpleasant situation in this supermarket while I was shopping calmly. While I was in line there was a customer (a black woman with another companion) This woman began making comments about my Spanish language while the cashier was serving me and scanning my purchase items. I tried at all times to ignore the mocking and stupid comments she made about me. But the woman continued making incoherent and disrespectful comments in line at the supermarket. The woman asks about the shopping cart she had as if she was bothering him and I politely reply that I speak Spanish. She mocks me and continues to attack my language. I finally pay and take my purchase and the woman keeps laughing and making racist comments. When I try to leave the store, I turn to her and respond that she should learn to speak Spanish, too. The skinny black security man approaches me like I'm the problem. When his duty is also to tell the xenophobic woman that he should not make comments or make fun of other people who have a different language than hers. But I decided to leave respectfully. When I headed towards my car. I turn around and see the rude woman. She decides to block my path. The woman kicks my car door in the store parking lot. The security man who should be embarrassed comes to the rude woman's defense. Where are the principles of this store and the policy that a security officer must take care of all of his customers and not just one? Applauding the racist woman. That's not good for your store. You already lost me as a client. You must have security people who really look out for all customers and not for an attacker who decides to be racist because a person is different from...

I have never been so disappointed with a single grocery store enough to make me feel as if it is a necessity to leave a bad review for the world to see. I am a local to SOMA and am known around town as respectful towards my peers and those around me. Walking into Edward’s today (08/17/2024 @ 6:30pm) was an awful experience. I regularly bring in my personal shopping bag because I like to stay away from using plastic and was kicked out by the security guard (obviously new) for trying to bring in my personal shopping bag. I’m not sure if he was not aware of what a personal shopping bag is but my personal shopping bag is no bigger than a purse. A purse, which people (generally women) walk into that grocery store carrying every single day, multiple times a day. Yet, I was told I could not bring my bag in. I left and walked back home to drop my bag off and walked back to the store. The security guard walked around the store giving me dirty looks and proceeded to argue with me on my way out. I have never witnessed more arrogance and ignorance than that man displayed that day. Furthermore, Edward’s charges a 10% on top of purchases along with all the rest of the Arkansas taxes we have to pay and still treats people poorly. Everything I’ve ever bought is close to or is expired. The pace always looks a tad on the dirty side or maybe even dated, I can’t decide. Their produce is not fresh, it’s only ever lasted a day or two after purchase. Their prices don’t make sense. I am the type to keep track of what I’m spending as I go, I use a calculator and when I’m finished shopping I add tax and their 10%. But, when they ring up my groceries their register brings up an entirely different total, and it’s always more than my total, and I know how to do math. If you have a large bag, backpack, even if it’s full before walking in, they make you leave it at the front. My mother is in an electric wheelchair and cannot walk, she was already in the store, had some of her shopping done, when the “security guard” approached her and told her, she could not use her personally chair there and she would need to get out of her chair and walk it back to the front and get one of their chairs. Another time, my friend went in with her newborn baby, they were trying to tell her that she was not allowed to bring the diaper bag in and if she did they would need to search it and the baby’s seat upon leaving. I understand loss prevention but, I believe they’re doing too much.
