I've been going to this location for years and 5 stars for the service and positive attitudes when shopping in store. My review is for a recent repeat delivery of dry dog food I give one star.
I've had repeat delivery for a long time, over a year at least, and never ever had an issue. The instructions on the order are clearly stated to "leave at the front door" and that's what they've done.
Yesterday, I received a phone call while on the other line. It was Doordash driver Marissa regarding my delivery. She said she was on her way but needed specific instructions where to leave my items and to please call her back. She did not leave a number and the Doordash number I tried to return immediately did not accept calls. Her message said she would be there around 12:29 pm so I started watching for her around 12:26 pm. I saw a car pull up in front of the neighbors house at that time and waited to see if anyone got out and I would greet them. The car stayed parked there until 12:35 pm and then just did a u-turn and pulled away and then immediately received a message my order was undeliverable and being returned to the store. She was literally here, and did not attempt to even knock on my door or call again before leaving. I understand this is a Doordash issue, but I did not order Doordash to deliver my dog food, Petco did.
I called Petco as soon as I got the message it was being returned and a nice young man answered. He said it's delivered by Doordash and if I had issues I had to call them myself. Not cool. They arranged the delivery, they should fix the issue.
I did call Doordash and as expected, they were confused because they were looking at my personal account, not from Petco. After a long while, they finally tracked the delivery from Petco and then said it had to have a signature because it was alcohol. No, it's dog food. Next response was it needed a signature due to price. Back and forth. Forty minutes later Doordash wants to reschedule but I have to be home to sign. I was late to an appointment and that didn't work. Ridiculous I had to spend 40 min on the phone with Doordash and Petco doesn't follow through to correct and issue themselves.
Problem solved - canceled Repeat Delivery and using Amazon that will leave the items at my door. Done with Petco. If a company won't solve their own issues when something goes wrong, I will...
Read moreAs a pet supplies supplier, they are on point. I get all my reptiles hides, substrate, and more for my reptiles. When I was younger I even bought my bearded dragons from there!
Sadly, the staff today were horrible to helping us out. I have rarely had this issue, as everyone is friendly, but this time was bad. My mom wanted to hold Peridot, so we asked a very nice young man and he went to get someone who was trained to help us. Tammy came over and got her out for my mom. The bird seemed interested and fine. As my mom held her, Tammy kept whistling and saying "pretty bird." From our knowledge of birds, the one on one is best to know if the bird likes you, so my mom tried to get it to focus on her. Instead the bird seemed to get anxty(which could just be the birds personality) but came off as more interested in the constant whistling whistling and calling. My mom was actually upset she wouldn't stop whistling, and when the bird was put back she mentioned to not do that again. As mentioned, it could have just been the birds uninterested personality, but it felt the whistling and name calling didn't help the one on one expieirence and any chance the bird had to bond with someone else.
After, I wanted to hold one of their Ball Python spy as I've been wanting a snake for myself. The young man, who has been as sweet as ever, helped us out with Tammy's help. Once done, the Python was back in his cage and my mom and I mentioned that there seemed to be a very sickly as he was laying flat and just looked ill. The immediate response was "He just shed." from a lady who wasn't in any uniform, but it seemed like she knew the job? I've had 3 beardies and not a single one has acted so lethargic after shedding their whole lives. The young man, bless him, did say they will look into and thank you.
My mom and I were extremely dissapointed with our visit, although it could have totally been that bearded dragon was just a weird one or the bird just didn't like my mom, it felt as if we were undermined even if we didn't know what we...
Read more**update as of march 2, 2025. Unfortunately my opinion hasn't changed the store is fine but they care for the animals is still not. Today A man was waiting for over 10 minutes to get his dog from grooming because all of the groomers left. This is against policy and pretty sure it should be illegal because absolutely no one is watching a room full of kennel to dogs. There are a million things that could go wrong and if it did no one is there to help them, let alone the fact that this guy had to wait forever to get his dog back. This ended with the manager being called to retrieve the dog because the employees could not find the groomers
If it was just based off the fish it would get one star. Every time I purchased a plant or fish or live food from this location my tank seem to get sick or a fish would die and after a while the only coincidence was that it came from the tanks at Petco. So I decided to run a test and I purchased two shrimp ran a tank like normal with just plants and shrimp from this store and the whole tank became infected. No that the photo seems extreme because I let this tank run for about two and a half to three weeks without doing a water change to see how bad it got after being introduced to two shrimp from Petco. Keep in mind this was a perfectly pristine tank prior to adding the shrimp
*edit If you are going to buy fish to start a tank that is probably fine because you can treat all of them but adding them to existing tank may infect your...
