Popped in tonight about 10 minutes before close, I know it was late and I was as quick as I could be, about about 5 to close I asked one of the employees for help with a product, and he replied with a "I dunno" so uninvested I wasn't sure if he'd heard my question. I asked again, trying to find a specific product, and he said "It's out there."
At this point it was obvious he did not want to help me, and I understand, it was close to closing time, but I did check my watch and they weren't closed yet. I inquired about another product that I genuinely did want to buy, and he again dismissed my inquiry with a noncommittal "I don't think so."
I went to check out and tried to be friendly and expedient during checkout, the dude wouldn't even look at me. I was purchasing several small things and after the transaction was over he asked me "You want a bag?" and, the tone was just sneering. Like I was inconveniencing the store.
If you've made it this far, you're probably thinking this is a scathing four star review, and you're scratching your head. Here's the thing, I've NEVER experienced this here before. I've been going to Destiny Games across several locations, the staff has always been friendly and kind, and I don't think one bad encounter should erase all of the good experiences I've had.
But what the experience did do was motivate me to write this review. I don't even want to be hard on the guy, I have no idea who he is, what's going on in his life, if he had heartburn. But it definitely makes me think twice about asking him for help if I see him in the future, because I know that he's probably not interested in helping me, or I'll just try and talk to someone else.
8/16/25: Popped in again, same person was there, and it was night and day, totally different demeanor. Putting the fifth star on because this spot deserved it...
Read moreI’ve tried to give this store the benefit of the doubt over the last year or so, as I am very avid about supporting your LGS. However, a number of members of staff are very rude and dismissive to their customers. On a number of occasions, I’ve overheard staff talking poorly about customers shortly after they’ve left the store, and have used profanity while doing so. Many times I have asked questions about product either out of curiosity, a desire to become more educated, or to just have conversation. More times than not, I have been met with answers like today where an employee will throw their hands up and say “I don’t know anything about that.”, without offering any sort of suggestion to where you could maybe find that info, or if someone else on staff would know. It is extremely disappointing that staff does not want to interact with their customers outside of ringing them up and sending them out. The charm of a LGS is interacting with other people who are passionate about different hobbies. If I wanted to purchase product, I would simply do so online.
Cards are decently priced, but their games and systems are absurdly overpriced. I’ve compared prices between other LGS and Destiny Games is easily one of the most expensive options to purchase retro games and consoles.
I am not one to write reviews, let alone a negative one, but I would recommend taking your business to a different...
Read moreI was unsatisfied. I thought it unprofessional when the tech was talking to my son about the problem on the phone he was rolling his eyes as if irritated. I was unhappy that they talked to me as if I was an idiot and did not know anything- CLEARLYI am not the expert if I am bringing the game system in there for repair! If I knew what the problem was I would have fixed it myself. BUT then the topper was that they told me it was over heating and charged me $50. Only to find that when I got it home it was still freezing up. I went online and did the Microsoft diagnostic and found out it was the hard drive all along. WOULDN'T YOU THINK THEY WOULD RUN THE DIAGNOSTIC FIRST BEFORE FIXING IT?! I am pretty sure they didn't care and just wanted the $50 so they could go back to playing their games all day....
