Iâve been a loyal visitor to Plantar Walk Antiques for over 10 years. Itâs been a favorite little spot for my familyâmy kids especially love browsing the booths and discovering hidden treasures. Weâve always appreciated the friendly atmosphere, the warm welcome from the gentleman at the front, and the peaceful Christian music playing softly in the background.
But after todayâs experience, I wonât be coming back.
We stopped in for a spontaneous little adventure, hoping to take a break from the chaos of life and maybe find something special. As always, we were greeted kindly at the front, and we slowly made our way through the booths. My teenage son found an item my husband has been looking forâhe was excited to show me, and I knew my husband wouldâve been thrilled. It was a bit overpriced, but I still pulled out my phone to call and ask him about it.
My younger son (just trying to help and be involved) was holding the item when a womanâwho had been loudly gossiping with another about other vendors and just being plain rudeâstormed over, yanked the item out of my sonâs hands, and slapped it down on the shelf, not even back where we found it. She snapped, âThatâs my husbandâs booth and heâs going to break it!â
No greeting. No kindness. No grace. Just hostility.
My son immediately started crying, thinking he had done something wrong. I tried to calmly tell her that I was about to purchase the itemâbut instead of apologizing or softening her tone, she gave me a sarcastic, smug little smirk.
And just like that, a fun family outing turned into an upsetting experience I wish we could forget.
I cannot believe such a toxic, unprofessional person is allowed to represent this businessâespecially one thatâs meant to be rooted in charm, history, and community. Despite all the fond memories weâve had over the years, today completely soured it. Thereâs no excuse for treating customers (especially children!) like that. We left empty-handed and heartbroken.
Unfortunately, this experience has completely deterred us from returningâand I say that with a heavy...
Read moreI visited Planter's back in October 2018 for the first time. It's located near McDonough sqare and parking is very limited. They have some outdoor items (yard or patio furniture and tools, etc) outside the building, near the main entrance. A few things caught my attention but as I approached to check the price, I was shocked to see how much they wanted for an item very worn and tattered. I completely understand what "antiques" are but as many years as I've been doing this, I felt it was too much. I hoped what I saw outside wasn't an indication of what they sold onside. Once inside, their main entrance was festively decorated for the fall season using the same antiques on display and there were numerous things to see all at once. Spaces between each area is quite tight. The farther I went in the more cramped it became. The items were very pleasing and quaint but only few were reasonably priced. It's surprisingly large from the appearance of the building when you first arrive and if you're seeking small-medium sized trinkets they have a lot of it. It was still warm out so it was cool inside and didn't "stink" as some other places I've been. The staff was friendly, but I only saw them at the front of the store. I was never asked if I needed any assistance. I can only give them 3 stars on account of the quantity and general quality of their items, but their...
Read moreWe wanted to like the store as it appeared to have lots of items in it. Everything we saw or wanted to buy was way overpriced in our opinion. I chose two sort of vintage, âKenâ type dolls dressed as the war time they represented. They were only marked $7.98 on the box by two $7.98 prices on each box. I went to pay and the lady clerk had to call someone. She then said they were the original prices and wanted to charge me $15.00 per doll. (They were not in mint condition at all) they would not abide by the price on the box. I declined as they were not worth that amount. Lots of things and overpriced. We antique several times a week and this was...
