This review is specifically regarding the ER department At College Medical Center in Long Beach (Dr. Christopher B. Mcdougal and Dr. Andrew Anh Tran) on Fri, Nov 29, 2024. I came in to get my second dose Rabies vaccine due to a dog bite that happened three days ago. I came in around 10:40am and was quickly accomdated by the receptionist and nurse to check my vitals and wrist band. But as soon as I got called in, I waited for more than 5 hours. At this point, I was very hungry and a bit shaky due to my low blood sugar. I had to ask a few nurses for a snack and juice. Some of the nurses weren't that helpful, most of them were gossping or watching sports on their computer instead of attending to their patients. There was only one doctor working, Dr. Mcdougal which was an elderly caucasian man that was beyond super slow. I can understand it was the day after Thanksgiving but I didn't understand with my situation was a simple second dose Rabies vaccine was taking forever. By the time it was clos to 3pm Dr. Mcdougal finally attended to me but he wouldn't order the Rabies vaccine due to the dog that bite me was unknown vaccinated. I felt like I wasted my time waiting so long for him to not order a simple Rabies vaccine which I had already got the first dose three days ago the day I got bitten. The second doctor came in. Dr Tran took over and attended to me. At first, I thought he seem kind and accomodating but then when I told him my situation of the dog bite and the dog was unknown for rabies vaccine he was completely condescending, rude, and heartless. He asked me if I did an animal report on the dog and which I didn't know I had to do. He kept telling me to make a report which I agreed to but at this point he was so hostile to me I felt like I wasn't cared for. He kept talking down to me and repeatedly saying, "You need to contact animal control", "Google it, do you not know how to use a computer???". It was hurtful to hear someone with a Doctorate degree and speak to you in a way as if you were stupid. This behavior is unacceptable especially when your a doctor caring for others, where is the compassion? The only good thing that he did was he did order me the Rabies vaccine but that was it. My assign nurse that helped me was kind and cared for me. I didn't get his name but after he administered the rabies vaccine, I asked him if I should continue the rabies vaccine series at my homebase hospital in Torrance. As soon as Dr Tran heard me communicating with my nurse he said "What did we just talk about???" I just kept quiet. I didn't want to argue with this doctor. I don't understand why he kept scolding me as if I was a 5 year old child. Dr Tran made me feel uncomfortable and antagonizing. He does not deserve to be working with patients with that type of behavior. I feel sorry for the patients and staff that have to deal with his superiority. It makes me question is he really a licensed internal medicine physician? I will never set foot in this ER location again due to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you've believe you've been unreasonable held against your will here or see inaccurate description of your condition or service provided in your medical record please report it to the authority. You may have been a victim of medical fraud where the hospital exaggerate your circumstance to justify placing involuntary hold against you to collect insurance money.
This hospital was also formerly known as Pacific hospital and the previous owner was found guilty of medical malpractice. The hospital was later sold to another group but its the same hospital in all but name.
I'm convinced this hospital is committing insurance fraud. I have talked to a few other patient and been told the same as well. If you have any reason to believe so as well request for your own medical information and clarify all the documents because they may hide some from you. They may have written a lot of untrue, and inaccurate information to charge you (or your insurance) extra that you may not have even noticed.
They're also apparently holding a lot of 5150 patients hostage. They legally don't have to show any proof to hold them until the 7th day so they will just write random claims to further hold them so they can claim more insurance money. It's the perfect scheme, they're given essentially a blank check every time a 5150 is brought in, hold them for 7 days then kick them out before the hospital has to show any proof. The patient ends with a medical record that'll stick with them for the rest of their life and the hospital do not have to even show evidence of their claim because the patient never made it to the hearing.
This hospital shouldn't just shutdown, the management responsible for this hustle of a hospital should be...
Ā Ā Ā Read morelack of empathy to some degree, I was going in for chest pains and difficulty breathing. the nurses got mad at me while I was trying to distract myself from the chest pains watching some YouTube on my phone while they were attending other patients, and I eventually erupted at them in honesty when they kept being disdainful with prior comments/actions then when they said I was having no issues or nothing emergent for being too young. 30 is too young.
that's good news and you don't want that of course, I've been like this for over 3 months on and off, decided to try this place after a neighbor recommended them, I was feeling cold, nauseous, and with chest & arm pains for over 2 hours. they only did a blood test and X-ray.
this place is an iffy choice, but you'll get seen faster than memorial. it's small and cramped. I'd only go here again if I was bleeding or broke a bone. maybe vomiting but preferably a Emergency Clinic instead for that. if you want to get seen elsewhere fast, call an ambulance.
(even with an Emergency Clinic referral, you're more than likely not going to get moved in faster anywhere.)
(I got a CT scan elsewhere after requesting it through my insurance and I'm going to see specialists for my issues, apparently they can only handle it.)
(had to mention this for everyone's sake.
I get everyone's human, we're all stressed but please don't take it out on patients like that. please take more breaks when possible. this was earlier in the month;...
