The Fish Shack — Local services in Long Beach

Called before I came and asked how many fish came with the combo. He answered that 5 did and I said, wow that's a lot. Well, it turns out only 2 come in the combo which is fine because for that amount I paid that's a fair amount which is $5 more than previous fish place and one piece of fish less. However, this place is not the place that used to be there, and the fish is definitely not the same. They need to find the cook and go back over the process. I asked for red snapper but got two huge pieces of thick, greasy, fried fish. Really did not look like snapper to me! Anyway, the key to a good fried fish is NOT being super greasy. Either they didn't let it drain enough, or the process results in very greasy fish. The fried shrimp was ok... probably because it's smaller and cooks faster. It's not fair to judge them based on the previous place there, but that what happens when you open a fish restaurant where a really good fish restaurant was before that. They need to find the old restaurant's cook urgently. Hushpuppies were the only thing really good. Definitely...

Let me start off by saying whatever fish fry mix they use, it is a really really good one. The taste of the fish was absolutely amazing!!!😋I ordered two pieces of catfish and 5 medium shrimp à La carte for a really affordable price. The whole meal is not shown in the picture I posted because I demolished half of it before getting a chance to capture it.🤣But with that being said, I will for sure be back to try some of the other items. I’m super excited to see that they have fried okra! The lady who took my order on the phone was extremely friendly, you could tell that she loves her job. Hands down my favorite fish spot in Long Beach! I stopped by The Fish Shack after a home showing and ordered a full pound of catfish — crispy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection every single time. The owner is always so kind and welcoming, and they truly take care of their customers.
