We’d give Atlas an A+ for effort and creativity, especially for some of their unique locks! But if you’re looking for the highest-tech or most immersive escape room experience, this probably isn’t it. The experience feels very “home-made”—which isn’t a criticism, just an observation (i.e. the use of walkie-talkies for communication for hints) adds to that DIY vibe rather than feeling like a high-tech, polished experience.
Some of the puzzles were fun; however, we found some of the items to be worn down or repaired in a way that felt low-quality, and certain “puzzles” were more like straightforward instructions (like “go put x on y”) instead of actual problem-solving. During our game, the Game Master had to step away to welcome another group -- they gave us a heads-up, being without guidance for a few minutes felt odd. Also, one of the keys we found was for a lock that was already unlocked and we were given a hint in the middle of solving a puzzle that we didn't really ask for, but overall our GM was very kind and helpful!
Bottom line: This room had some cool puzzles and would be great for families with kids, but if you’re into attention to detail, immersive experiences, or high-end escape rooms, the overall experience might fall a...
Read moreThough the host was very nice, The Dragon's Egg room looks and feels like a room put together on a shoestring budget over a weekend.
My daughter and I did the Dragon's Egg room together. I love doing escape rooms and have done several before (my daughter has done a few more than me). There are few puzzles (four, I believe) that don't revolve around either a combo lock or a simple keyed padlock. So no real "wow factor" in the puzzles, which was disappointing. In fact, finding the proper key or code for the proper lock became tedious by the end because there were simply so many.
After playing other escape games that took serious time and care with constructing their rooms to immerse you in the story they are trying to tell, The Dragon Egg's décor of modern office furniture in a modern office didn't really transport us to a wizard's lair despite some wall hangings and other loose props. The biggest disappointment was that there was not a single constructed prop or puzzle in the game--this was very different from every other escape room either of us had done. It was simply all very basic stuff .
Thanks for the experience, but it was not worth the money and we won't be returning for...
Read moreLongmont is lucky to have this hidden gem! Took my wife and youngest daughter (7) and we had a blast! I’ve done close to 50 rooms and this has to be one of my favorite places, we did the Rockstar Room together.
The puzzles are non linear, which is incredible. It allows your group to spread out work on things of their own or come together on larger puzzles. The smaller puzzles allowed my daughter to find and work on things while mom and I were working on other ones. For an "easy" room the puzzles were still challenging enough, and several took a collaborative effort.
The room itself had a great feel/vibe to it. It really was well thought out and designed and made the experience that much more enjoyable. The theme didn't stop with just the looks though the puzzles themselves were all "rockstar" branded as well.
Lastly, Landon, the owner, was incredible. We can’t wait to go back and try one of the harder rooms. He was very honest about expectations when I called asking if my 7 year old would have a good time. I can’t wait to see what else he’s dreamed up in his other rooms.
If you’re looking for a fun collaborative time we highly recommend Atlas...
