I would give them 1 star but as far as I know they are they only place in my area to find esoteric computer stuff. I visited on Saturday 1/18/2025 just after 10a. I told the clerk, being the only employee in the store that I needed a micro USB to USB B cable (Raspberry Pi Zero W 2 to 3D Printer). I knew they probably didn't have one. So, I'd have to cobble something with other cables. I told him I could use a USB A female to female or a Micro USB to USB A female. He picked a cable out and said here's a micro USB to USB A female. Great! Purchases for $9 plus tax. Got home, it wouldn't work. I looked at the package and noticed it said micro USB On The Go. USB OTG does not support passthrough of data. He knew exactly what I was trying to do and still offered me this cable. So, I brought it back for a return and purchased the USB A female to female connector which worked perfectly for my application.
Here's where the problem started. It is clearly marked on the receipt and signage in the store that all returns are subject to an 8% restocking fee. This would have been fine had I picked out the cable and it was wrong. But the clerk picked it out, not me. He should have refunded the entire amount, but he didn't. Furthermore, they have some type of antiquated system where he had to call the owner to approve the return. He even told the owner "the customer bought the wrong cable." Of course, he didn't admit any fault. On the way out I let him know that I didn't think what he did was right, but all he did was state the return policy on the wall. When I said "but you gave me the wrong cable..." he acted like that didn't matter. I told him I would write this review, so here it is. CPU Wholesale... DO BETTER and do the right thing next time. Read moreTook my laptop to them exactly one month ago today. They diagnosed the problem to be the speakers were bad. Had to order new ones. They let me know this within 4 days, because I had to go pay for the speakers before they would order them. Then I did not hear from them for three weeks. Stopped by to check on it and the tech tells me that after he installed the speakers that the windows operating system would not boot up. They would need to re-load that and re-install my data. I agreed to pay for half the extra time needed to do that. (It was either about to crash or a failure on the techs part, don't know.) They said it would be ready tomorrow or the next day. So 3 days go by and nothing. So I stopped by to check on it. It was ready. They cashed me out. Took it home to reload the programs needed to pull up my data. Now there's no data at all on it. I called them back. The tech tells me that the file containing the data was corrupted and he could not load any data. I then asked for a manager. Manager says that the tech told me this on the voicemail he left. That was lie number one, I did not get any voicemail! He then said well if the tech was there when I picked it up then he would have told me then. Well, the tech that checked me out was the one who did the work so that was not true either. So I was very pissed at this whole fiasco of getting my speakers changed out. I know things happen, but not being kept up to date or being told about the data until after I found it did not sit well with me. Worst computer repair experience I...
Read moreI paid to get my Dell laptop analysed, then fixed. I paid for expedited services that was about $95.00. The tech told me my keyboard would to be replaced, that was $55.00. It took about a week to receive my back laptop. I did not mind spending the money because it was finals week. To my horror the keyboard is bouncy or spongy. In addition,I kept getting an error message concerning a essay I had been working on. When I sent an email to the store manager and owner I believed that they would fix the problems. Instead when I returned to the store to works things out with the owner he did not introduce himself, I had to guess who he was, then he called a tech over and left.No apology for the poor quality or anything!Next the tech told me that it would cost me an ADDITIONAL $185.00 to find out why the error message was happening. ( I had previously asked if I need this service when I asked about the keyboard and was told no.) For the grand total that was being asked for I could have purchased one from Walmart. Devastated and crying I picked my computed back up. Finally as I write this review I have to go back and insert spaces between my words because of the flimsy quality of the keyboard. I eventually had to purchase a smaller laptop to get through the end of the semester. This was in March in Longview when the shut down began. Best Buy and CPU were the only "quality computer store that I knew of. I hope this...
