The night employees are always mean unless they find you attractive (females and males, gay or straight) then they flirt and provide refills without waiting in line and watch you share those refills in boxes with friends which then prompts you to ask for another refill. I was spoken down to when asking for a small soda to the get it upgraded to a large. I was spoken to like a child by a short girl with red hair, annoyed, stating to just order the large. I had to follow up asking if I'd still get my discount if i dont get the small and upgrade. She continued with "just. order. the. large." She was later very kind to a boy touching his bare chest and lifting his shirt for all to see. Then the woman with short curly hair who was flirting with the girl getting a refill of popcorn slung my pizza box in my hand after she asked if it was for me. As if she was upset to have me be the one accepting the pizza. Wouldn't even look me in the eye, too busy watching the girl in the girl group share her popcorn with her friends, waiting for her to come back for her other order. Rude and disgusting behavior. The males here are just as bad with the attitudes. There are also bugs in the chairs which I never noticed before today; I had to flick a weird black bug off my leg. The audio is always so loud it peaks and then your ears ring (terrifer, wild robot, and a few others ive seen did the same). I despise going to this location but it's the closest. I try going to the matinee to avoid the young jerks that work the night shift. I always clean up after myself. I never leave any trash. I'm constantly nice to people. Smile. Never aggressive. But time and time again I am treated with such disrespect,...
Read moreI liked it for the fact that the employees were incredibly nice and helpful, and the recliner seats were very comfortable. I'm giving it a 4-star, because of the 2 seats that we reserved, one of them wasn't functioning properly. It wouldn't recline, as it was supposed to. So, during the commercials and Trailers, I ran down to ask for help from the employees, both the guy at the front door, and two employees walking through the hall. One thing that I can totally commend them for, is that they were all on it, calling for someone on their headsets. Before I knew it, a maintenance guy was meeting me at the door to our theater, and I lead him up to our seats. He tested the buttons to make sure that, indeed, they weren't working. Then, he flipped the seats forward. Now, mind you, if you're a maintenance employee in a theater, which could often times be dark, wouldn't you carry a flashlight? I would. But, he didn't. He asked to borrow the flashlight on my phone, which I'd already turned off for the film. So, we had to wait until my phone turned fully back on, which was kind of slow. So he, then, proceeded to insult my intelligence by showing me where to turn the flashlight on on my phone. (No, really?!) So, after plugging and unplugging it a couple times, it reset itself, and he was able to make it work again, just in time for the movie to start. Moral to the story, arrive early enough to make sure that your recliner seats are working, and don't turn off your phone until you know for sure...
Read moreThe screens have no blacking. Blacking is the velvet borders That surround a movie screen to keep your focus on the picture. They also add contrast to help the whites. Porter Ranch AMC projects onto a screen taller then the film itself leaving distracting bright bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Nobody appreciates black bars on their home television. But it’s so much worse seeing this at a theater where you have paid to have the best presentation possible. All the screens at the AMC Burbank have blacking but not Porter Ranch. Blacking hugely improves the picture and the movie going experience because there’s nothing to distract you from the image. What’s annoying about this is such a cheap fix to add blacking top and bottom. But worse it’s the same situation in the Dolby and Prime theaters At Porter Ranch were you pay top dollar. This is so sad to me because I wanted Porter Ranch to be my new theater home. I love the Burbank media center but Porter Ranch is closer.. I won’t go back to Porter Ranch as long as there are distracting bright bars on the top and bottom of the the screens.
Note: Because the Dolby theater projects real black the problem is less distracting there. Its tolerable but unfortunately during bright scenes the reflected light bounces back to the exposed portions of the screen revealing the exposed portion of...
