I wanted to say that I thought I was going to do business with a trusted corporation. I have been on a single income for many years now. Purchasing a new radio for the car took a long time and effort. I purchased a radio at the Woodland Hills location, but I had it installed at the Porter Ranch store. My car's radio and AC were working before the installation. After several attempts of trying to get it fixed at the Porter Ranch location, they suggested that I take the car to the dealership to get a diagnostic. I followed their recommendation and had the diagnostic test completed at the car dealership. They suggested that the radio was not compatible with the car and that is why the air conditioning unit was not working. Their solution was to have the original radio installed, which they could not do. Infinity was not able to do the installation themselves because they do not manufacture the radio and cannot offer a warranty. We went back to Best Buy and they asked us to buy a radio on eBay. We complied and they installed it. Unfortunately, this did not fix the issue. The AC still did not work. We went back to the Infinity dealership. They conducted another diagnostic and concluded that the fan is broken. I went back to Best Buy and they said they are not liable and that they will not be fixing the air conditioning unit. They said it was probably wear and tear that occurred over time and that they will not be resolving the issue. I called the manager (at Best Buy in Porter Ranch), Micheal, and I told him what the issue was. He was not helpful at all or empathetic to my situation. Hypothetically, there is no way of knowing whether or not they are responsible. I find that that is irrelevant because I went to Best Buy with a working car and now I have a broken car. I DO NOT have the money to fix this. He was insulting and told me that I can take this situation to small claims court. He was chastising me thinking that I do not know about small claims court or how it works. His exact words were “I don’t think that you know how small claims court works.” He also said that he is not going in circles with me and that he was going to hang up now. I felt very belittled and insignificant at that moment. I do not know if he was talking to me like that because I am a woman. I am a strong woman who has dealt with many issues from both men and women. During this conversation, he made me feel like he was superior because he is a man and I am a woman. I felt like he was washing his hands of the situation. I went in with the dream of surprising my family, including my two small children with a new radio and I left with...
Read moreSincere apology from Best Buy Update: I originally posted this review yesterday, August 14, 2024. I felt Best Buy was taking advantage of me. Today I was contacted by the salesman at the store. I expected some sort of confrontation. But I was pleasantly surprised by his apology. He said there was some type of mix-up and the haul away of the old unit was supposed to be included as part of the installation visit. Without my asking for anything, he told me he was refunding me $60.00, which is what the haul away fee would have been. Because of what was a very polite phone call, I upped my rating!
Original post: Watch out! Best Buy charges as many fees as possible! Very sneaky, as well as lying to us about the haul-away fee. We just bought a new microwave/electric oven to replace our old unit that had been in place for almost 30 years. We bought the KitchenAid Model KOEC527PSS, and the unit works perfectly, looks great and the install was also great. The reason for the 1 star review is that when the installers were done and I asked them to take the old unit away, they said it would cost another $59.99! I was shocked because I remember asking the salesman if the haul-away was included and his response was "don't worry, I'll take care of it". Never was an additional fee even mentioned. If he had mentioned it, he probably would have waived the fee as he did the $25 home visit fee. I was already paying $250 for the installation, and when the bill was presented to me before I put my credit card in, the $25 fee showed up. I asked why it was not already included in the $250 install fee. He just said it was their policy, and then waived the fee.
Also, there appears to be no way to talk the store by phone. I try the local store number and am answered by a call center who listens to me politely and just parrots the...
Read moreThe manager has no ability to manage. When they make a mistake instead of trying to do something to help they rather stand around and argue with their customers. I had a situation come up and instead of offering me a solution, asking me to pay, showing me receipts - four grown man stood around arguing the merit of this and that.
Last year I bought two laptops and one of their workers mistakenly put the warranty on the wrong laptop. This was discovered during an unrelated transaction and somehow during moving the warranty to the correct laptop the warranty plan was downgraded from a 2-year plan to a 1-year plan. Recently the screen broke and I took in the laptop to have it repaired. They were not sorry about their first or second mistake. The first manager first said he could not produce the trail of receipt. For of their employees stood around for an hour not offering to do anything to fix the laptops screen. I offered to pay for the repair and they were so fixated on this attitude of not taking responsibility that they did not even want to let me pay for a repair!!!
I routinely buy things from bestbuy and I usually buy warranty from geeksquad. Over the years every interaction I have had with best buy service reps AFTER a purchase and for repair request has been disappointing. They are great when it comes to running ads about their service and sticking you with various costs at the time of checkout...but they never come through with their promise. Their workers prefer to stand around and argue with people rather than actually do something in which they...
